I was in another thread where there was a situation where the poster was confused and the best as I could tell there was a Pet Sin involved.

A Pet Sin would be that sin in your life that you ask God over and over to forgive but for some reason you keep committing this same sin over and over again. Making you feel guilty and confessing it again just to repeat the same sin. Why would this be? Are we being honest with ourselves? Do we really want to give it up and STOP? This is what I would term as a Pet Sin.

This thread is to confess your Pet Sin and get encouragement, prayer and advise in how to over come this Pet Sin. I don't care how pretty we wrap this sin up and put a bow on top, we as Christians need to be able to identify the sin in our lives to confess it and turn away from it as sin and God do not exist in the same place. We need to learn to call sin a sin and turn it over to God and submit ourselves to Him and allow God's Holy Spirit to come into our hearts and remove these Pet Sins from our lives.

Who will be brave and join me as we work with God to overcome our Pet Sins? I invite you to be brave and join me. Any takers?

I can get us started.....My Pet Sin is called Gluttony.

I have been obese for years and made excuses, I am older it is harder to loose weight, I have tried many diets and they don't work, I've been on a diet for a long time and I am not loosing any weight, I don't like to sweat....so forget exercise.....and on and on with the excuses.

This past May my Doctor told me with an A1C number of 8.4% that I needed to be put on insulin injections. I used to work as a nurses aid in a hospital years ago so I am not afraid of needles. I did not however, want to be put on insulin. So I took a good look at what I had been doing all these years to myself and knew that I really needed help.

Finally at 59 years old I caved and prayed and gave myself and my sin to God and asked that He please help me where I have failed. I have since then seen real progress in a positive way. To date I have lost about 30 pounds and my last Dr. visit my A1C number had dropped to 7.3% in just 3 months. By just eating healthier, not much exercise which will have be added but a vast improvement above all the excuses I had used to lie to myself.

I was the one eating the candy, the potato chips, the pies, the cakes, the fried foods and this list just keeps on going... Wrapped up in a beautiful package of sin called gluttony..... Well thanks to God we have taken the bow off and opened the box and together we are dumping the contents into becoming a better witness for God. I am gaining a healthy body and a much better temple for my God to live in.

Please I encourage others to join me and would be happy to pray with you as we work together with God to overcome our Pet Sins.

If I have a pet sin it would be smoking. It is a form of ethical suicide as the death is usually far in the future and not something to worry about in the present. I have come to the realization that I want to live. I am an addict but that only describes my condition and is not an excuse. I will pray for courage in overcoming what I have done to myself over a period of many years one smoke at a time. I can be a great servant of God or a great cigarette smoker but I cannot do both. Life is a series of choices - I can chose to live or I can chose to die. I am going to need help in fighting this addiction because I am too weak to fight it myself and I am dying by degrees each day.

Dear Father In Heaven

Please rush to tourists side and lift him up as he battles against this addictive habit. Please send Your angels to help him fight of the demons of nicotine and the urges to continue to smoke. Tourist has given You his life in submission and is requesting help with stopping this habit and we trust in Your mighty power to take the cravings away from him and help him to become an overcomer. We claim victory over this in Your Holy Name Amen

I have an occasional beer or glass of wine, not an addiction, maybe not a sin. Some Christians say it is, others are ok with it.

I can get irritable with being interrupted when I'm busy, whether it is at work or home. Some days you just don't want to be bothered. I have to ask an awful lot to be forgiven; people are more important than being interrupted.

having a drink not a sin. getting drunk is. so keep your self-honest level high on that. one thing I try to keep in mind that most people do not mean to be an interruption most of the time. my issue would be not turning the other cheek but wanting to retaliate.

For men, I would say that lusting after women is a tough pet sin to break. Not impossible, but tough!

The Bible says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13), yet how many men can say that every time they are tempted to lust after a woman, they NEVER give in 100% of the time?

I think mine is probably food too. There are other sins that I'm largely cured of but sometimes I fail unintentionally, when I do I'm mortified and usually cry when bringing it to the Lord in prayer.

Dear Father In Heaven

Please help Trinity33 with her anger issues, Father in the world we live in it is so easy to get angry and there are so many frustrating things we have to deal with everyday. Please forgive us when we show this anger and I ask that you forgive me too as I caused someone to get angry today and it was not my intent. I feel badly about it and I know that Trinity probably also feels regret at times. She has come to you and wants to give you this problem and I ask that you will give her the patience that she will surly have to develop in order to handle the anger when those situations arise. Thank You for knowing everything about us and Your strength to help us change. Thanks Dad for Your help. We pray in Jesus Name Amen

Dear Father In Heaven

Please help gb9 to have compassion on those who might be on the attack and realize that maybe there is no one praying for them and that is why they are acting the way they do. Father we all need our eyes opened to the hurting population out there and we ask that You would enable him to turn the other cheek if he needs to do so. You can change our hearts to a softer version than stone and I ask that you give us all hearts of flesh that we could see people as You do. Then act in love and kindness. We pray in Jesus Name Amen

Dear Father

Mailmandan did not say that this is his problem, but if so then please help him to see women with new eyes as those who want to be loved and respected to remember that they are some ones, daughter, wife, sister, mother. Help him to grow closer to You and build a strong relationship with You that will never be broken. In Jesus Name Amen

Yep I am dealing with that one myself these days...the word patience over and over...but why can't I have it yesterday Lord? I can relate. Big Time. Pet sinning you will have to take that up with God out of my league....

Dear Father In Heaven

Blue Ladybug and I come before you humbly asking you to give us patience....I know be careful what you ask for...Are you ready Ladybug? As now you know our Father is going to start testing our patience. So Father as you run these tests on us I ask that you stay by our sides and help us to pass with flying colors. I know Blue ladybug and myself desire to be Your daughters with a good witness and to be strong representatives of Your love to others. So please give us the strength we will need to carry out the calling you have planned for us both. Thank You for being by our sides. In Jesus Name Amen

Dear Father In Heaven

My sister here and I have this problem and she is desiring Your help and I know she is willing to submit her will to Yours and I ask that when temptations come her way that You will send Your angels to fight back the evil forces that are tempting her. Speak in her ear like you speak into mine saying - Do you really need that right now? How many times have I done an about face knowing it is not needed? So please do the same for her and I bet she will listen to You as you are teaching me to do. We know You love us and only want what is good for us so help us honor our bodies as You want to use them as Your temple. We thank You in Jesus Name Amen
