As everyone knows, Halloween is quickly approaching. Why not make this night a soul winning event?

You can with Gospel Tracts.

Check out Chick Publications:

Make Halloween a Soul-winning Event

They have great ideas and suggestions on ways one can witness effectively by utilizing Gospel tracts and by handing them out to those kids and teenagers who will come to your door only once a year. And who knows this may be their only chance to ever receive the Gospel.

Furthermore, for a Gospel Tract which also covers the subject of Halloween but that is more aimed at and tailored for adults, you can check out brother Terry Watkins ministry website (av1611.org), Dial The Truth Ministries. He has written a tract called: Halloween - A Covenant with Death and Hell. Very informative on the issue and history of Halloween.

So there you go folks. Make the 31st a night where you will honour the Lord by giving someone the Gospel.

It was the one night of the year (Oct 31) that Martin Luther went to the Wittenberg Door and posted his 95 theses thus triggering the Protestant Reformation.
There you go, have your scamp dress up as Martin Luther passing out copies of Luther's 95 theses. ..better yet, posting them up on doors that require indulgences in order to get free candy.

I did the tracts last year. This year I'm not taking part at all, there will be a sign on my door explaining why I'm not buying treats to give away, instead I will be donating the money to the children of Syria who have nothing. The kids here will not miss my treats as their bags are always full.

We don't answer the door. I've been invited to a Halloween party and I shouldn't go but I'm being teased and part of me wants to go to the party.

We ignore it completely. Lights off and most likely leaving the house. It has absolutely nothing to do with God.

I posted this over on the Bible Discussion forum, but wanted to repeat it here.

There is no Scripture that endorses taking a pagan-originated holiday and "redeeming" it for God.

There are numerous Scriptures saying to have NOTHING to do with pagan-originated holidays.

All I have to say is the United States made both Halloween and Christmas illegal back in the 17-1800's... Whether it's right or wrong to celebrate it, there was a reason the United States made them illegal... (I am against Halloween myself but your salvation is not put upon works... BUT ON CHRIST ALONE :D)

Ok, the article says 16-17th century which means 1500-1600s which makes sense under the heavy calvinistic puritan movement.
This wouldn't have gone over too good with the Lutherans who were no where as legalistic as the Calvinists.

What article are you reading? Took me far more than 4 minutes to read even one article fully...

And why the scrutiny? (If I may ask?)

Also to argue it was simply puritans, and other denominations would not have done so is not historically accurate...
Scottland Banned Christmas for 400 years...

Kohenmatt, people can do what they choose. I simply choose to use it as an opportunity to witness.

Kohenmatt, the purpose of this thread was to stir Christians into thinking of ways to reach the lost as they come to your door.

No Bible believing Christian I know of has ever attempted to Christianize a pagan day like Halloween. But like myself, some of the Bible believing brethren choose to utilize that day like any other to reach the lost with the Gospel through using Gospel Tracts.

After all, they are going to come to your door anyways. So why not give them the Gospel?

As a matter of fact, if some of the brethren prefer to not buy any candy, well then fine. When they come knocking on your door next Halloween, don't give them any candy. Simply give them a tract only.

If I came to your door, I'd prefer to get a gospel tract AND candy.
