So my wife's church (Lutheran Missouri Synod) put this out... as you carve your pumpkin you pray:

Dear Lord

(while cutting off pumpkin top) Open my mind that I may learn new things about You

(While removing innards) Remove the things of my life that don't please you

(While cutting eyes) Open my eyes to see the beauty You have made in the world around me

(While cutting nose) I'm sorry for the times I've turned up my nose at the blessings You have provided

(While cutting mouth) Let everything I say please You

(While inserting and lighting candle) Help me show Your light to others through all I say and do!
