Whether singing writing drawing or even cooking. Before you were saved you had a certain skill correct? Before I was saved in my high school years and it truly shames me to even think about this let alone speak it. I was very popular in high school because I can make up a story from the top of my head with ease and everyone loved me because back then I would make up the sexiest dirty and sometimes even the most disgusting sexual stories. Heck if I wanted to I could made big bucks writing porn stories if I wanted to. But now I am saved and only write what I am passionate about and that is God.

I have always been able to write, I can touch ppls hearts and make them cry with my stories and God uses that gift for good. I also can draw but he has yet to use that. So what about you? how has God used your natural talents?

I write short stories in my spare time. Maybe someday I should try and get them published..lol :) As you know, I like to write true-life stories also, and I'm sure you've seen several of mine on here. In high school I took typing class, and in later years learned how to use a computer. I used to work for a short time for the state of Vermont. :) I've had this computer for about 3 years now, and since i've been here, I am grateful to God for my excellent spelling, (I won trophies in school lol), computer skills and typing skills.. they have benefited me greatly here and I am very blessed indeed. So many people have told me that my struggles inspire them and that I am a blessing to all who read my writings. I'm always like, "wow, little old me inspires people"?.. lol :)

I can only write when I am inspired to and it doesn't happen that often but the last time I was inspired to write a lot of Christians attacked me for it

Take courage, the fact you were attacked does not mean that you were not inspired. God takes care that His message gets delivered to those who need it... Even if it was only 1 person of 100 to whom it ministers and the 99 hate the message. :)

My natural talent is piano playing. But would you call it natural if you had to practice for 15 years of your life to get to the place where you are good? Isn't natural something you were born with?

God has used this talent to bring just the right people to me as students who He wanted me to eventually disciple. They became students of the bible instead of piano.

Whats important is that we act on our promptings and inspirations from God. For it is God that we seek to please.
For this we may receive more blessings from him. I can not think of any natural talents that I have that are being used by God. For this. I will take the humble role and claim that I have none.
As SoulWeaver mentions. If your message/writings reach one person out of many. That is very good.

Here is a hopefully short story, but true. The Biggest, most powerful impact in my entire life.
In OK City there was a Chapel trailer in a huge truck stop parking lot. "500 semi truck spaces"
I noticed that there were no truck drivers going in the Chapel. I went to the door, and asked the Pastor if any drivers go in there to talk. Took some enticing on there part to get me in. lol

The female Pastors mentioned that if they speak with only one person per day. and save one person. They are happy. We had a three hr talk. They shared of there gifts, prayed for me, layed hands upon me in prayer. then sent me on my way.
I will just say, It supercharged my spiritual life. Our time together and the events of my seeking the Lord after speaking with them is the Rock that I stand on today. My foundation that the Bible is true.

What about the gift of sharing the gospel? I believe you have said you have shared and witnessed to people before and that is a gift. Just sayin.....

Its so good to hear you had a great time in high school and that you were popular, Blain! Not everyone can say that, including me! High school was a living hell for me.

I didn't begin to find out my natural talents till my 20's when I discovered my artistic side. I became a jeweller and a professional musician. My life was making people drunk for 7 years, and I grew to hate it, and living in general.

Fortunately, God saved me, used me in worship music and help me discover my gift for teaching, even writing my own curriculums. He also showed me I could use my artistic talent for his glory, including writing and painting.

God is good!

Right now God has called me to be a high school science teacher. I ask daily if God really wants me to be there because some days I don't, but God sends me signs through small things and words of encouragement that this is the place He wants me right now in my life. Also God has entrusted me with the heart of a wonderful man and two small kids. so I use my natural talents to glorify Him in those positions.

God gives me a desire to find His truth in the world and share it with others. He has taught me to forgive, be kind, patient and loving to people who may not appreciate it now but hopefully will one day remember and turn to God because of the love He has placed in my heart to share with others.

When I was in high school, I was afraid to speak or pray. Since then God taught me to overcome my fears and bless others as He has blessed me by revealing His love and peace and strength.

I still don't care about being popular or liked. I would rather testify that I'm loved by God and praise Him for it.

I love to read and I love to listen, (pretty much an introvert) I didn't think these were gifts until I got older-when God paired them together. I can listen to the problem, then find a scriptural answer. I truly believe all wisdom is in our Bible. Those are abt my only talents- not the most erudite person, my pics are stickmen and my singing :0 (think sheep in labour) wait!!! I'm a peacemaker whenever possible so that's kinda a talent.....

Ariel, when i was a junior in high school, i was blessed to have a history professor.

He was retired from Yale, but came home to his hometown and chose to 'lower himself' ( :) )
to teach at the local public school.

Very few teachers do i remember so clearly, and fondly.
Dr. Roohan was an amazing, amazing guy.

Just a word of encouragement...you never know whose life you're reaching into...
who might be telling their friends about you in (gasp) forty years.

Sharing the gospel was not a natural talent of mine. Sharing the gospel came after many conversations with the Lord over a short time period.
For the Lord then showed me many things that I can never deny his existence. For this. I believe everything that is written in the bible is true. This makes it easy to stand my ground, and share the gospel with others. For I am thankful that my faith does not come from text alone.

Before I worked I loved to organize a group of other stay at home moms at church to fix meals for a family with a loved one in the hospital, or a women who just had a baby. I once worked for a home cleaning service and would also clean for people for free.

Since I am a working single mom, I do a lot of knitting and crochet and love to make things for people and the homeless shelter. God has also given me the patience and understanding to let people do all the talking and ramble on while I listen, and many times He gives me the wisdom of what to say and when to say it.

Really! This was something I came to learn, that the Bible does answer all things, but I found the difficult learning curve that the answers are not what we'd always like in our "through a glass darkly" understandings, as applies to all life situations. But it really is all there, just a matter of studying and praying for the Spirit to show us.

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

I'm not certain of what my talents are exactly, let alone how He facilitates them for His purposes. I'm good with computers; anything technical comes naturally to me. Um...I'm good at small talk? (Which certainly helps in my field.)

Good question, Blain. Maybe I should reassess my talents and how I'm applying them. :)

Hmmm.....talents.... So far God has used my singing talents in choir and at church, and I'm trying to use my artistic skills to try and tell stories. Hopefully one day to become an illustrator, a christian illustrator! :D
