Do you ever just KNOW something is going to happen before it does? Is this a women's intuition? Something we are born with? Or a spiritual gift from God?

I was out shopping recently and (don't ask me how!) I knew someone would be in need and that God would expect me to respond. As we get a lot of buskers in our city I guess I was expecting a scruffy and perhaps homeless person to be in an established spot and that God would expect me to provide...I had already decided that I would buy this person a sandwich and a drink rather than give money which might be used for alcohol or drugs. I was a little surprised that there was no one in the spot where buskers are generally found but a little later I saw a young woman approach me (this has never happened before) and be avoided by two different people before she approaching me, she asked me for some change - I don't know why but I had £2 ($2.75?) figure in my mind but when I looked in my purse I didn't have very much cash - I gave her what I could and wondered what she needed it for...bus fare home? Or maybe something less desirable. When I walked away I felt very guilty that I hadn't given her a £10 note. Maybe if she had asked for more I would have but I did have this £2 figure in my mind for some reason.

Does anyone else have the experience of knowing something will happen before it does or am I just weird? Do you think I carried out God's wishes or did I fall short? Please be honest - I intend to learn from this.

lol I don't believe i woman intuition but I have no doubt the holy spirit made this known to you. Nothing like this has happened to me in the way it has to you but sometimes I instinctively know the outcome of something before it even happens and when this happens I am 100% right. However it is always something that I wish wasn't true and even hope against it but the outcome is always the same.

Of course you wouldn't believe in women's intuition, Blaine. You aren't a woman. But it is real. Sort of a sixth sense of things. Like knowing the sex of a baby beforehand, or knowing someone is going to propose, or knowing your friend didn't really like your gift, or knowing the party will be boring, or knowing you will marry someone. Go figure!

I think some of it is intuition - some might be a little bit of a prophetic gift - and some of it might be as MPW had, the voice of the Holy Spirit preparing her for some service.

I know that if I spend time listening in the morning, I sometimes get a word on what to expect/share with another person.

There are some people born with a highly developed sixth sense and actually see things happen, etc. When they become Christians, they need to take that very sense and offer it to God to sanctify...only for Him to use and to protect it by His blood from the enemy's use of it. They become very proficient in the gift of prophecy, but it is totally from the Holy Spirit. They seem to hear His voice much easier than most of us.

Those who don't become Christians might become fortune tellers, etc. making money from this gift. And of course it becomes the devil's tool.

I've had this several times, not frequent though. When the Holy Spirit lives in you and knows all things, you and HIm are so close you can' help but feel it!

Yup, has happened to me too.

I wonder though: What made you change your mind about the food and drink rather than giving money?

She didn't look like she was in need of food and for some reason I had this £2 figure in my mind - I think she maybe needed to get home. None of what I thought was any more than a feeling - I just knew someone was going to be in need and I also knew God wanted me to respond. Previous to being a Christian I'm ashamed to say I would have walked away as the other two did. :( Maybe God was testing me, maybe He wanted to see if I trusted Him.

I've heard more than one pastor (and a Jewish rabbi) say that there is a Spiritual sensitivity in a woman that men do not have. Sometimes there's no way to describe it except to call it "woman's intuition".
