Lately, Jesus has been showing me just how much sin there is, showing me just how it fills the world.
At first, I was overwhelmed, but then, Jesus said, keep your eyes on me, as He always does. :)
It was then that I began to see, the reason why, not the ussual, where one would despair or be overwhelmed by sorrow.
Although I was still sad, but so He could show me just how great His love and sacrifice is, how great God Our Father's love is for us.
For as terrible and miserable and sinful the world is, as we can be...
that I would know that I cannot overcome sin with out Him.
That His love remains first, and gave all, so we would be able to come to Him.
But also, so we might better know, why God hates sin so, for it trully seeks to steal, kill and destroy.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this, so that if we stumble, or another sins against us, we would be reminded of how great and loving Jesus is, God Our Father is.
That we will forgive as He has forgiven us.
And rejoice in His love, praising Him!

For God so loved the world, that while we were still sinners, He sent His only begotten Son, as a sacrifice for our sins.

In Jesus, God bless

Howdy, pickles!

It is indeed a world saturated in not simply poor decisions, but wrong ones. I was witness to some of the backwash of some recent sin during the Thanksgiving holiday that is deeply affecting a family member I love very much, and it breaks my heart. I'm glad that you are taking the time to reflect on the prevalence of sin while keeping your gaze on the One that promises to cast it all as far as the east is from the west. :)

you know, pickles, i've missed you.

sometimes i think about how kind the Lord truly is.
it seems i never get a true glimpse of just how broken,
how needy,
how sinful i actually am all at once. (overwhelming!)

thank God, in Christ He's already begun making all things new,
undoing the mess we've made.
what a Savior! :)

God is so good to us in that while we were yet sinners He sent His Son to die for us. That is love I don't understand but am so grateful for. As I have sinned and messed up a lot. He who has been forgiven much loves much and I do and am learning to love the Lord with all my heart and all that I am....Thank You Jesus for Your gift of salvation. Amen

Another thought to consider:

When He shows you sin in yourself, it is only to confess and acknowledge the cleansing blood of Christ, and the free gift of His righteousness. It is also a call to deny that part of yourself.

BUT when God starts showing you more sin rampant in the world, he might be calling you to be an intercessor. Someone needs to "stand in the gap" with His heart of love for these sinners. Maybe it is you.

Whenever I'm given the discernment to see sin in another person's life, it is a call to pray for them. Not to worry, but to pray.

You might be called to be that intercessor. And that is a powerful, much needed ministry.

God has also been speaking to me about sin, and how Jesus came to save sinners.

I think we do need to be interceding, but also not afraid to speak about this with people. After all, the name Jesus means, "saviour/deliverer."

"She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matt 1:21

This world does not know the meaning of the world sin anymore. Perhaps it is time we all talked about sin, and the deadly effect it has on us in this world, and how it separates us from God.

When I took evangelism in Seminary, we were told to talk about God's love and our sin and the need for repentance. That is the gospel. Sadly, the professor said in our society, we needed to talk about love first, because most people did not understand sin anymore, and would probably walk away before we could tell them about God's love.

I guess we do need to speak up more about this, in order that the gospel would truly be understood.

"But God demonstrates his love towards us in this, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

People DO need to see sin first, otherwise grace really has no meaning. They have to see their disobedience before they can weep with joy that His obedience becomes ours (Jere. 23:6) and that He gives us His righteousness (Gal. 2:21).

They have to see first how God hides His face from them because of sin before they will fall on their knees in worship when told that the blood of Jesus causes them to stand without blemish in His presence (Eph. 5:27)

Jesus even said the one who is forgiven much loves much.
