A man was walking through the desert with his camel,
the desert was hot and dry and the man was seeking water.

It came to pass that the camel fell into a deep hole.
The man tried as hard as he could but wasn't able to pull the camel out of the hole.
The man, not wanting the camel to suffer,
said "I'm going to have to bury you in order to minimize your suffering".

The man began to push sand into the hole to bury the camel.
The camel, seeing the sand begin to pile up on its back,
began to shake the sand off and stamp it under its feet.
The man kept shoveling in sand and the camel
kept shaking the sand off and stamping it under its feet.

After some time, deciding that he had put enough sand into the hole,
looked at the hole and there stood the camel on top of the sand-filled hole.
The man smiled and continued his journey with his camel.

When the going gets tough, shake off that sand and stamp it under your feet!

I like the story! But I don't know exactly why. Maybe it's because when I feel like I'm sinking deeper into the muck at the bottom of the pit of earthly affliction, I think that I am drowning and pray for God to help me. But, what I don't realize is that God is helping me, he is purging me in the fire.

Moral of the story: the camel had more gumption than its master.
