2 Chronicles 7:14 14and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15"Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.

I heard George Bush Jr was a christian before he ran, too. As a matter of fact, so did Obama.

The US isn't a Christian nation. It's a secular multicultural nation with various religions and ethnic demographics, I'm afraid.

I feel God IS in our nation because His people are still here. His Spirit is alive and active. And God will use any person to fulfill His purposes for the last days. He even used Herod to show His miraculous signs and wonders to the Israelites.

Even though we vote with wisdom, we still must not put our trust in man - Christian or not.

To be honest I think we are past the point where the office of the president can save us no matter who THEY put in it. I mean really, we are given 2 choices and no matter who gets elected the policies stay the same. If it wasn't Obama-care it would have been Romney-care, and so on. I mean really what's changed in the last 16 years? Not much I can see, and I don't think it really matters who they put in that office when the office its self is bought and paid for.

I'm inclined to agree. If you look at the people who fund the election candidates, many of them funded both Romney and Obama. That says something. However, there is an option for you; vote a party other than the democrats or republicans into offices. Start local.

True, we can always throw our votes away to those who have no chance of ever winning, or causing any real change. That is actually what I did the last election, but when it's so obviously futile it's hard to even focus on that too much anymore. All that said I don't pretend to have any answers or suggestions to fix the problem other than "everybody just follow Christ", which I'm sure would work just about as well as saying "can't we all just get along". I do agree which what you're saying though, I did even get a little more involved in the election this year for local offices than I ever have before.

If enough people vote, lobby and push for change, your chosen party will gain seats locally, then at state-level and eventually congressionally. It's not ideal, but if you really care about it, push for it.

Many time Israel fell away from God, but in his mercy in the time of the Judges when they returned to him He returned to them. Israel humbled themselves and he delivered them. God is the same yesterday today and forever. When and if Americans humble themselves they will be delivered. I trust in my God.

True, and to be clear I don't deny the power of God to be able to change things for the better, only that's not what His word says will happen, and the way things are going in the world very much support what His word says. Does that change how I'm commanded to live my life to worship and bring glory to His name to the best of my feeble, oh so small ability? Of course not, but that in no way changes the systems I see set up right in front of me, or the truth of this worlds condition. I KNOW what God has done for His people over, and over again, and I thank Him every day for His longsuffering and mercy that is so undeserved, but I try (and can only even try because His Spirit lives in me as a free gift through the blood of His Son Jesus) my best to let His light shine through the way I live and treat people, to try to submit my will to His. To be honest I don't put too much stock into the things and systems of this world anymore. I find myself focusing my time and effort into doing what He is guiding me to do these days.

That all being said I am in no way trying to even suggest any one else should share my view at all, or that my way is right for anyone else. Just that I am only doing what I feel the Lord wants me to do through reading scripture, staying in prayer, and keeping my eye's, ears, and heart open at all times to continually try to draw closer and grow in my faith. I am simply testifying to how He is working in my life personally, so thanks for your input, I agree with your point.

I am afraid that the America I see as an outsider is being fed to the dogs. I heard about this prophecy (in 1910) from a guy who said that America will win the first two world wars but they will be on the losing end of WW3 and they will be part of the “bad guys”. Now until very recently I couldn’t imagine that there could be any truth in this but it all starts to look grim for our brothers and sisters in America.

Religion and politics are a very unholy mix, whether Christianity or Islam!

Let's not forget that the popular vote doesn't usually count either... How do I become and electoral vote? That's what I want to know seems like their votes count no matter what the public wants.

It is not possible to separate religion from politics. Every single government and all codes of law that exist or have ever existed are based in or around religion.

Fortunately in the UK religion is largely kept out of politics.

Not at all. The British monarch has been the head of the Church of England for quite sometime now. Apart from that major factor, there's tons of interesting little religious facets to the British government and culture. One I came across recently a few months ago and found to be quite intriguing is the Sword of Mercy that has been used to coronate all of your monarchs for centuries and to knight your knights. As the story goes it is the legendary Curtana of Ogier the Dane, the tip of which was broken off by an angel to prevent the slaying of an innocent man.
