Why do people hate on the word of faith movement? First I want to say that people tend to tie it in with the prosperity gospel which any real Christian knows that that's wrong...and to capitalize on the idea that we can use our faith and words for personal gain is also wrong....but aside from that I believe their is truth to speaking things into existence...if I believe God will heal me than God will heal me as long as it aligns with his will...Proverbs 18:21 talks about the power of the tongue...Try the rice test...

Anything can be distorted - even faith. If your faith is what you have faith in, you are in trouble. If your speech is what you have faith in, that is also not good.

On the other hand, when God speaks to your spirit about what you are to pray for/receive, then faith must reach up and take hold of it. Faith's action is thanking God. And sometimes we need to speak the words in order to ground our faith (but not to get something or speak it into existence.)

I read a lot of the Bible aloud because I believe the Word when spoken has His spirit alive in it. Faith comes by hearing, and I need to hear myself speak it often. It chases away doubts and fears. And I like to have His word become a part of my vocabulary.

In fact the word "meditate" mentioned in Ps. 1 is derived from the Hebrew word hagah and really means "a repetitive speaking aloud", not a mental activity. So, my favorite form of meditating is to read over and over aloud some scripture that speaks to me. The Jewish people sang God's words over and over. It was in their mouth. And they spoke it to their children - they were not handed a bible.

I've seen the rice test and understand the importance of positive words. And I believe that the spirit behind our words have power to affect others. We have all been hurt by the spirit of anger in someone's words, and felt a warmth when spoken to by a spirit of love.

The only One who speaks things into existence is God Himself. Adam named the animals not speak them into existence.

Because all the foundations of the teaching are not biblical in nature, but new age. Even some of the originators of the movement had ties to new age teachings.
And as far as 'any good Christian knows' that WoF and prosperity teaching are not the same, that's not at all true. They are the same. They may have branched off in some ways, but the core of the teachings stem from the same sources.

'The power of the tongue' verse says nothing about creating or speaking things into existence. If you read the whole chapter in context it speaks of behaviors and attitudes. To isolate that scripture still requires a twisting of meanings to believe it supports the idea of speaking things into existence.

I really hate it when people make references to things and don't offer an explanation. I looked up 'the rice test' and all i saw was references to breast enhancement surgery.

Christianity In Crisis
This is an awesome book exposing the cultic nature of this false teaching and how widespread it has become.

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

So was Jesus lying?

No, He wasn't lying. How many mountains have you moved into the sea?

It is an interesting thought though?
It's not that I believe that we can literally "move mountains" with our faith....
The thought process is, would I really I ever need to move a mountain, and can ones faith be strong enough to actually do the physical action of it?
How would that serve God's purpose?
Is it just an extreme example of how faith / and with enough of it, we can do the impossible?

The WoF movement seeks to make people into "little gods." Read Kenneth Copeland and Kenneth Hagin if you don't believe me. It is heresy at its worst! It twists select passages to prove a theology which is wrong.

I am in the process of moving, but when I get settled in, I will start a thread on how wrong and evil the WoF heresy is! Using the Bible, of course!

Am I missing something here...what difference does it make if it's a mountain or a piece of paper...however I would like to think because he chose mountain instead of a paper, that he was saying through him we can do the impossible...

So she's a hater because you make references to things without making yourself clear? So people have to make guesses as to what you mean then when they get it wrong you think They are the problem? Perhaps if you explained yourself better people wouldn't have to try to figure out things on their own, then you wouldn't have to bear false witness against them. Fault lies on you for not explaining yourself, not on her for figuring out what you meant.

Which, by the way, her 'hater' search result yielded the right answer. Or did you even bother to try the link before shooting your mouth off?

Time after time you continue to discredit yourself on this site.

And i don't see any reference to creating mountains. I see a parable on the power of faith in Christ, that would be Gods will, not ours.

Ok yeah the word of faith movement seems to be for their own personal gain...I get that...but if this idea is so far fetched then how do you explain Mark 11:23

I'm referring to the 'rice test'. Which she did look up and find what you meant. To which your response was to criticize her. All she said was 'i looked up word of faith rice test' and provided a link to her findings. How is that being a 'hater'? She used what information was available and found the right results. What a horrible person!
And you fall squarely into that category. Wasn't that long ago that you were asking about the most basic aspects of Christianity and now you're suddenly an expert able to teach everyone else who's gotten it wrong?
And i've seen a number of people that view you as having discredited yourself. Or nothing more than a troll. Which I myself have wondered about at times about you. Now you're just proving it. Troll on. But i'm done with your and your trolling behavior.

Hummm sounds rather weird to me and I see no Biblical bases for doing such a thing.I haven't been here a year, only a few months but this I can say for sure Pychomom is no "hater".I believe you owe her an apology. All I've ever seen her do is encourage people. Waiting on that apology...
