So, I've grown up in the church my whole life, and I just found myself recapping some of my favorite years. Some of the memories, however, I would not exactly like to relive. But, you grow and learn from embarrassing moments, so I just had the thought. What would be one of your most embarrassing moments at Church?

For me, it would be at a High School group, back when I was 17. We were playing Dodgeball, and it was getting intense. I dove to dodge a ball, and I heard and felt a "RIPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!" My jeans totally ripped along the inseam, from top to bottom! Everyone was laughing, including myself, but I will admit, I was blushing like crazy >.<

What are some of your embarrassing moments? Let us know!

I was a brand spanking new Christian about a minus 5 days old. I went into a Roman Catholic Church with a friiend. I didn't know up from down. So when Communion/Mass was going on I tried to look hard to see how they were taking the wafer. I thought I had it figured out, so when it was my turn I stuck out my tongue and received the wafer...I let it sit there with my tongue out thinking it would quickly dissolve...it didn't. After a few uneasy moments the priest gave me a look of astonishment and whispered loudly, "e-a-t i-t".

Letting the preacher marry me to my first wife when I knew it was wrong. Not only embarrassing but incredibly costly.

When I was about seven or eight during worship I would lay down worshiping God because I saw a lot of people do it. When I would do this I would often fall asleep and so I would be laying there during the sermon and the pastor enjoyed giving me a hard time after I woke up. It was sure embarrassing.

I play in the worship band and after we had finished our songs a video started playing. I looked up and the screen and watched the entire video. After the video was over and the lights came on and the pastor came up I quickly realized that the whole band had left minus me.

when I was a kid, I was one on the shepherds in the Christmas play. I tripped on my long robe going up the 3 steps, 3 steps!! to the pulpit/ choir area at the little Church, wiped out most the kids behind me.

I was at my sisters wedding and a couple of days before the wedding I fell down the stairs and cracked my tailbone, so at the wedding I carried a little decorative pillow with me. I got a lot of questions about the pillow and why I needed it and I still hear about me and the pillow. Just a little embarrassing if you ask me.

I was the only one left standing in the middle of the congregation after a time when the speaker said if you need (whatever it was at the time) stand up and lift your hands. My eyes were shut and I never realized everybody had sat back down afterward.

these stories are great lol i haven't had a real embarrassing moment. the most i could say is when i've dropped my mic during praise and worship. or when the musicians don't follow my cues during a song, and i'm going a totally different directions they are (better said, they're going a different direction lol).

We went to the wrong funeral, had to sit it out... and we didn't even know the guy.
No one noticed though.

I was sitting in a pew at the CoC when a visitor in front of me raised his hands and said, "Praise God". One of the solidly entrenched older members leaned over to him and whispered (loudly) "We don't do that here!"

I was embarrassed for ALL of us.

It wasn't long afterward that we left that church.

When I was a teen my nose started bleeding uncontrollably in the middle of the sermon. I don't know how or why. Blood was all over me. I had to get up in front of 300 people and run to the bathroom. That was slightly embarrassing.

Funny, not ha-ha funny, my Pastor talked about this Sunday morning..........said some of our churches years ago frowned on people giving God a hand-wave praise...........He said there was a verse in the Bible about this........will have to see if I can find it.......anyway, he said we were told to praise God with lifted hands......oh, yeah, I remember that now.

Anyway, funny that you would mention it..........

That happens to me often, except it's when we're singing songs and have finished or are doing prayers.

At any given moment in our congregation, there might be people standing when everyone else is sitting... or some people might be sitting when everyone else is standing.

No one ever even hardly notices it.
