I'm not sure how many on CC are mixed but even if your not maybe you ay learn something or can benefit if you have mixed children or grandchildren later. Also it could just be different cultures, not races. If you can't answer them all it's fine too, its for those bored enough, haha

Anyways the questions are as followed:
  1. What is you mix?
  2. Which parent?
  3. What are the advantages?
  4. What are the disadvanges?
  5. Did you go through identity crisis?
  6. What ethnicity do people most confuse you with?
  7. Is it hard coming from 2 different backgrounds? Which do you embrace the most?
  8. What questions or comments do you absolutely hate?

My response:

  1. Black, White, Puerto Rican, and Native American
  2. Mom: Black, White, Puerto Rican, and Cherokee. Dad: Black and Choctaw
  3. The food, the music... being able to relate to a variety of cultures
  4. Figuring out where you fit in
  5. Yep
  6. Puerto Rican, Arabian, and Indian
  7. Nope, but it is an adventure. I embrace all of me!
  8. You don't look like "insert race," or well your basically "insert race"

Good questions, mate, but I'd just like to clarify one thing you said: there's no such thing as race. We're all one human family, descended from Noah's sons and their wives, all the way back to Adam and Eve. I'm not mixed at all. I just have Saxon (Germanic) blood. I don't know specifics beyond that.

[*]What is you mix?
[*]Which parent?
[*]What are the advantages?
[*]What are the disadvanges?
[*]Did you go through identity crisis?
[*]What ethnicity do people most confuse you with?
[*]Is it hard coming from 2 different backgrounds? Which do you embrace the most?

Your thread faded, so l hope it's okay if l give it a shot.

1. English, German and Thai
2. Dad -white, Mom -Asian
3. I'm 'down' with both races.
4. Kryptonite still hurts me, like any other Kryptonian. :(
5. Identity crisis?.....Not really, l know I'm a cheetah, and l embrace it.
6. Hispanic?......occasionally Martian.
7. Naw. I like being different, the docs tell me that its okay.
8. "So....do you guys, like, eat...you know, house pets and play volleyball at family get togethers?" (Sadly, l've gotten something close to that)

Seriously, l would have answered 3-8 similar to how you answered. :) (except #6)

Anyways the questions are as followed:

  1. What is you mix? Dad's conservative. Mom was liberal.
  2. Which parent?
  3. What are the advantages? I don't automatically put down the other political party. (Of course I chose for myself.)
  4. What are the disadvanges? All six of us are mixed on politics, and no one wants to talk about why they're wron... about politics. (Okay. I kid. Sort of. lol)
  5. Did you go through identity crisis? Nah. I just changed my mind as I got older and am considering another change now.
  6. What ethnicity do people most confuse you with? I have a look that makes some folks think I'm Asian, others think there could be some African in me, and then there is European. I'm none of the above. I'm a purebred American mutt.
  7. Is it hard coming from 2 different backgrounds? Which do you embrace the most? You do realize by now I do think my background is a bit mixed up, but not in the traditional way you were taking this. (How hard is marriage, if you have no political agreement? lol) But I don't think it's all that big a deal. It seems to have trended in my family. I think the only couple in my extended family who married within their political party was hubby and me. What do they talk about?
  8. What questions or comments do you absolutely hate? I hate all prejudice, so don't tell me racial jokes. And, don't expect me to sit back and take it with religious jokes either, particularly since the stupid people are usually the Christians.

1-2 mum British white, father unknown
3 never have to spend money on fake tans or sun beds :)
4 none that I have across as an adult (kids can be cruel at school though, also discrimination
when younger
5 not that I can remember
6 loads: Spanish, Italian, lots think I am Egyptian or from Israel, Asian, once was asked
if I was Chinese, some think I'm from the Philippines!
7 no, have always regarded myself as British
8 when people ask which country I am from, I say I'm from the UK. Then they say no, what
is your ethnic origin. So I tell them British!

I went to church a while ago and wore a necklace made from carved wooden beads. A lady
who I didn't know, came up to me saying "I like your necklace it shows your ethnicity." When
I asked what she meant. She said it showed my country of origin. When I asked what she
thought that was she blushed and made some vague comment about Africa!

Another lady at church who I didn't know, asked where I was from. I just said "here".
then she asked what country. So I repeated "here".
Then she said, well your parents must not be from around here.
So I replied well one was from the Donkey sanctuary and the other was from the RSPCA dog shelter!

Was that really rude of me :D, she was ruder for going up to a complete stranger and demanding to
know where they were from.

Now I just tell everyone I am a mystery lady. :)

I have temporarily changed my avatar to a photo of me (it's 3 years old now I hate my
photo being taken). Notice the wagging tail and the long ears! LOL

People can be so rude...smh
Sometimes you have to be rude for people to realize how rude they're being. I think it's kind of sad that you don't know your mix though.

I was told to "play along" when they dropped me off on your planet.

I should have been upfront in my last post.
For that, l truly apologize.
Please forgive me.

Seriously,
Great thread....wish more people would have dropped some knowledge, about themselves.
Great way to learn about others.

Welcome.

So you're asking if Reborn "talks Thai"? (Meet The Parents :))
I understand it better than I speak it. I should learn more though.

It might clear up the confusion that l have when my aunts and uncles are speaking Thai to me.
I always wonder if they're talking about me?

Although the pointing and laughing should be my first clues, that they are?

Isn't it true that pointing and laughing "pretty much" mean the same thing in every language? :D

Cool thread! :). Well..I was born in America, though I am told Mom and Dad's side are both from Germany. My hair was nearly white as a child...all I was lacking was the pink eyes...lol kidding..my eyes were blue. I grew up tall...strangers have asked me if I was from Switzerland a lot. Never been there. Do they have tall blonde people? I honestly think I have a teaspoon of everything....because to hear my grandmother tell it...my fathers fathers and fathers before them, was a long line of womanizers!... :) ugh joy right? Lol...but truly....we should all be proud, no matter what color our skin, or race etc. We are all beautiful...because we walk in the light of the Holy Spirit! God loves us all to be unique! :) God bless you all in creativity, love, strength, and self acceptance.

Haha! I can relate my Spanish is awful, basic communication and minimal listening skills. Wouldn't even recognize Iroquoian or Muskogean languages from the Cherokee and Choctaw. Some reason language never seems to be a priority for most mixed families.

This is another question for anyone that's looking, do you think you miss out on a part of your culture(s) or who you are by not understanding the language(s) of your culture(s)?

Okay. Let's give this another go. I'm not mixed, at least not recently.

1. I was born in South Australia. My relatives came to SA in the early days of the free settlers (1838). They came across the ocean from Prussia (what is now Germany and Poland). They were of Saxon-blood (Germanic) but had ventured into Prussia and lived there in west Poland before coming to Australia.

2. Our ancestors from both sides were Germanic but lived in Prussia (further back, they lived in what is now Germany).

3. The Prussian/German culture has some great dishes - including meat small goods.

4. There aren't many good dessert dishes.

5. Yes, but only the usual identity crisis everyone goes through in early life. I was incredibly short in high school and now I'm rather tall - 196cm (around 6'5).

6. People don't really confuse me with any culture. They can see I'm from central Europe in some capacity. They just think I've dyed my beard, because my hair is dark-brown and my beard is very red. Haha!

7. My ancestors came from Prussia, but they were Germanic. We follow more German traditions and cultural practices than Prussian ones, that's for sure. I would love to visit that part of the world one day to learn more of my family history before we came to SA.

8. Do you play basketball? Why don't you play basketball? Are you a giant?

I think I can report you to the authorities if you are Mexican and don't eat salsa.

It would be like being German and not liking brats.

Irish and not liking potatoes.

I'm pretty sure it is against the law.

I know that it's been around tree weeks,
but I'll speak and give presentation about myself..
So here's my answer :
I'm not mix but I'm adopted since I was 6 months.
I've been adopted by Canadians Parents.
I'm from China and Chendu is the city who I born.
I've got a lot of problems with others because I'm adopted.
Even presently, I'm waiting for my Social Insurance Number
and others things and it's really tough because anyway....
Just to say that to be adopted it's not evident at all...
Sometimes and often it makes me SO MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!!!!!!
I'm really serious sorry...
