Basically what the title says. Having some issues with car and wanted someones opinion.

Car is a 2007 with 36k miles. I think it sat quite a bit so might be having issues with lubrication.

When I take off or slow down I hear creaking noises in the from of the car. Seems to be getting louder the more we drive it. I was thinking struts but when I go over bumps it doesn't seem to do it. Sometimes when turning left or right I hear a sound but not as loud. Any ideas?

Lube job may or may not help...........but a quick trip to Midas should help......they will analyze the situation, and it is usually free........

I agree with your advise, it's almost impossible to diagnose a problem without hearing and examining the car yourself.

Very true...........but cars/front ends should not make a "creaking" sound. :) Me? Well, yes, given my age, pretty much every "ball joint" I got "creaks."

edited to add: springs can also make funny noises at times. Cheapest solution would be to try a Lube Job first, then see what's up.

bad breaks make a metallic grinding sort of sound............not so much a creaking sound. think of an old style mattress/box springs and the noise they make when you sit - stand - sit........

Like Shadow said, it is hard to give an opinion without actually being there to see/hear what is happening. IF it is the ball joints though, I would think the noise would be worse when you are turning in one direction or the other, as that is when they most come into play as I understand it.

Anyway, best advice is to take it to a reputable mechanic who has a storefront workplace, and not a shade tree one. Only reason being, in the event you have them do the work, you have someone to go back to if the problem isn't resolved. There are good shade tree mechanics out there...........so I am not criticizing them, but it is nice to know one can go back to an established business like Midas or such if the problem isn't resolved.

Wish you the best with your problem.

Could be a U joint going out.

If it's a front wheel drive it's not a U joint. Sounds like suspension but I would know better if I could hear it.

i was kind of hoping it's just dried-out bushings in the stabilizer bars.

I was thinking suspension as well.

Could be power steering, maybe as well.

So the mechanic told me the tie rods were bad but he couldn't hear the noise we were noticing. He then told me he was partially deaf lol. I asked him to actually take the car for a drive and listen to the noise. He was then able to hear it slightly, I guess being partially deaf it would be a slight noise. He said he replaced the tie rods and lubed up everything. So we will see.

:)

Good thing he wasn't your Doctor listening to see if you had a heartbeat.................that could end badly I'm thinking. :)

I have never heard a rod squeak or creak though...........but if they were bad, then they should certainly have been replaced.

I will be picking it up today. Will see if it still happens. If it does then I'll be taking it to a different mechanic.

Condensation check all spots that water would sit on the front end, WD40? is a get ride of water spray it may help in locating the part that needs service.

Have Fun
