The Lord is on my side so I don't need to be afraid, at least that's what I thought until today.. my mother scolded me saying " You should fear the Devil. " and "The Bible says to fear the Devil and not tempt him." I asked a couple friends and they both said that they also are unafraid. I'm very confused, I know he's powerful but God's power is much greater, and with God on my side anything is possible. So, why be afraid?

[SUP]Well, I wouldn't say we should fear him, but we should be watchful, aware that he is sneaky
[/SUP]
- Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

- Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you
(In context, resisting the devil seems to mean: don't sin, don't do as the world does)

- Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

I never saw the bible saying to fear the devil, but we also should not challenge him as that opens a window for him to attack. But with God by our side what do we have to fear? how far can we not go? what limits is there that we with God cannot do?

We are not born of a Spirit of fear............

2 Timothy 1:7) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8 .) Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
9 .) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Matthew 10:28) And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

the devil will try to get you into fear of death what about (me)but no one is greater than GOD and if GOD is for you who can be against you.

Even if you don't see a way out and you die you will go to be with the LORD.
Don't fear him who can kill the body but fear him who can destroy body and soul

She's probably trying to quote James 4:7... Matt. 4:10... or Luke 4:8. And they actually say just the opposite.

On the contrary, you are a child of God. You do not fear the devil, you are on the offensive tearing down strongholds he has put on people. You are not on the defensive, but the offensive. If anything, you are shaking the gates of hell powerfully proclaiming the name of Jesus and setting the captives free! River7, awaken to who you are in Jesus Christ and what authority he has given you with His name. You are not a nobody, you a part of the Body of Christ, ever so essential.

I once read a preacher named Smith Wigglesworth say he was addressing a demon, casting it out, and the demon knew him by name as a servant of the Lord. Imagine that, demons recognized a person with whom the Lord operated through, knowing fully well the man knew that the enemy was/is defeated and therefore knew he had ALL authority to take hold of sickness, disease and torments of people.

Should you fear the enemy? What does the Word say? "Greater is He that is in you, that he that is in the world." Stand tall, you are a part of the Kingdom of God, and you are child of God. God is the one that protects you, and sends His angels to watch over us. You need not fear, just have the fear of the Lord meaning cling to the Lord because He is your refuge.
