One of our greatest errors, I believe, lies in how we approach Christianity as a religion. Jesus was not the beginning of a new type of religion with a different God at its center, but the destruction of religion as a system and the death of all its gods. Jesus does not call us to worship as pagans worshiped, but calls us to follow.

The difference between these two concepts couldn't be greater.

The way we "worship" Jesus is by following Him, not simply by chanting, bowing low or raising our arms. All of that is fine and dandy, but we've too often mistaken Christian worship for something, I believe, Jesus never intended.

Christianity is not a new take on old forms of religion. It's not a call to worship a disembodied spook, or to sing songs to an unseen entity. No, it's a call to serve humankind, and in so doing to perfectly serve God. Christianity, first and foremost, is a call to follow the radical, self-giving person of Jesus. While other religions seek to ritually engage their deities through various practices, our God only asks that we take His love and make it manifest to the world. True religion, James tells us, is to love the broken and to keep ourselves from being corrupted by the system that breaks them.

In short, Christianity is less about worship and more about following. Or, perhaps a better way to say it would be that, in Christianity, following is worship.

I always like to tell people that Im not religious. They will ask me if Im Christian, and I will tell them I am, but I tell them that all this means is that I have faith in Him as my savior, and try to live by His word. But I dont consider myself in anyway religious :p

I agree, Christ never told us to put up emblems and banners, to carve up our idols, to recite these certain prayers when the sun has set in certain positions, to put on our holy robes, or any of these things. He told us to take up our cross, and follow Him.

I still talk with the guy I was with in my sinful life, and he likes to explain away the changes the Lord has done to me by saying "Im just some religious fanatic" now (he does this in order to scoff away any fear of the warning hes heard before), even though I have done nothing more than realized how I was wrong, and have chosen to follow Christ. But even still, he, and the rest of the secular world, try hard to make Christ out to be another religion, all in order to make a joke of it in order to enjoy sin. Thats another reason I push for the idea that following Christ isnt a "religion".

I was having a conversation with an old friend yesterday evening; she's a Buddhist and she said the Buddhists believe in continuous chanting will bring in more life into themselves and on other living beings around them (pets, plants, etc.) Coming from the part of the world where there are so many different types of religions around me such as Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, Islam, Animism, Catholic, Christianity, etc. Christianity is merely another religion to them and is often seen as a religion with lots of don'ts.

On the other hand, some of us Christians try to explain to them that Christianity is not a religion but they will only conclude that it's a western religion and all religions are the same - basically, applying the phrase "All roads lead to Rome". Based on the creation story, we know that God created mankind to have fellowship with Him but because of the fall of man, this fellowship had been broken. To be in fellowship with God is to follow God and Christ was sent to redeem us all from our sins. Hence, imitate Christ's footstep and actions guides us to go back to the habitat where God had created us to be in.

Christianity is merely another religion to them

This is why the enemy has worked hard to create so many religions. It confuses us, and deceives us into believing people make up their own gods, then fight to the death and let themselves be murdered for their own made up lies.

The world works hard at proving Gods word is nothing but a bunch of gobbeldy goop written by some Israeli "zealots" who just wanted to make everyone do what they wanted them to do. And satan is more than happy to help them find it.

On the other hand, some Christians are not taking the verse "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8, NIV). These warnings are spoken in many places in the Bible and even Jesus Himself are telling His disciples to beware (Mark 13:5-22) even for false Christ and false prophets. Perhaps, another question, we have to ask ourselves would be, "Are we only open to listening to feel good verses?"

Satan and his followers are moving around; their activities are getting very rampant over the past years until today. Wherever the door is open, there, he will jump in to launch his attack. How shall we then, work with the Holy Spirit and God's angels to ensure the door is properly locked and secured? As in, is our mind control and we have our thoughts filled with Godly-thoughts? Are our actions aligned to God approved actions?
