...... that I'm sure many will totally misunderstand as they read this from my young friend.

Jesus is not a priority, and believing on him does not require that He ascend to the number one spot on your list of most important things. No, the moment you do that, you effectively "Gnosticize" your experience of the world, and will find yourself feeling like the rope in a game of tug of war between things natural and spiritual. You'll constantly find yourself feeling as though your Christianity and marriage are in competition with one another; that Jesus is jealous of the time you spend doing your job, etc.

Christianity is not "making Jesus number one in your life". Jesus is not an item on your list of priorities, but the light which transforms the way you see and interact with the things that do belong on a list of priorities. He is not in competition with your life, His message simply invites you to live it differently.

I think I understand what he is trying to say and in some ways I agree. Although, I wanted to add to it if I may, Jesus wants to live our life with us and not to compete with it to be there during the good, the bad, and the ugly. He wants to be our cheerleader when things are going awesome for us and correct us when we are in the wrong, much like a parent.

Good food for thought, Willie. Thanks for sharing this

My Little Buddy has a bit of a habit of liking to add some "shock value" to many of his introductions to things. Wait till you see the title of his latest book... (It was very deliberately done to make the average "reactive" reader [non-reader?] recoil in religious resistance.)

Christianity is surrendering all about your life to Him. Then peacefully watching to see what He brings into it or takes out of it. Knowing that you are only set apart for Him.

It is an interesting view and actually a common one. God always comes first in my life he is my number one priority and my friend told me I am taking this Christianity to far he even called me a hard core Christian once( but it was meant as an insult) He even told me that if I go to far into this supposed faith of mine I will stop living in this world and be wrapped up into a world of faith and not accomplish or help anyone or anything here.

I can see where he is coming from after all I have met ppl who are so obsessed with the rapture and believe it so close they literally have stopped living for God here because they think time is up anyways. But What I have found is when God is my number one in life then he affects all areas of my life even helping me live effectively here in this world.
