Be careful. You just created an all out debate for people to participate in.

I know that I started collecting the extra children's Bible lessons and would pass them out along with the candy when kids came to the door. Trying to spread the word.

Americans take more delight in celebrating Halloween than Easter (for now).

I just thought rather than ignoring what was going on around me that I'd take advantage of the situation.... When else are you going to have people coming to your door and able to try and spread the word about Jesus? Who knows you give them candy and a story and they just might read it.....since it was for children after all.

Halloween is big business they probably sell more candy for it than for Valentine's day.

And what do Americans (kids and adults) usually dress as? Ghosts. Demons. Witches. Zombies. "Cute" kittens and "cute" angels... And I use the term "cute" loosely, when they show pretty much almost everything.

It is kind of sad now where I live because no kids come for candy since our home owner association has a no soliciting sign posted.... so for 12 years I haven't been able to do what I was doing when I owned a single family home....

I hate Valentines Day. Its essentially a superficial holiday when most 364 days horrid partners chose to be "nice" and "romantic".

It's the reason for the season...any of them, actually. Easter isn't such a big deal because it doesn't include everyone. The bunny never caught on with unbelievers as did Santa or the blackmail of "trick or treat", though it's few that actually carry out the "trick". The young children are only enjoying themselves. I realize that. It does teach a lesson they won't forget.

Not to mention Mother's day and Father's day. Let's take just one day to honor the parents you have. Really? Just one day we're supposed to honor thy mother and father? I don't think that's what the ten commandments say.

Thats a good idea. My church has a trunk or treat event where they have games for the kids, then a Bible lesson/introducing the Bible to kids who have never heard, then letting them go around a bunch of car trunks to get candy. A lot of people bring their kids to that because it is safer than going door to door.

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday! I love everything about it(decorations, costumes, tv movies, etc.) I have to buy the candy, even the day after when it's on sale lol. And of course I have to watch The Nightmare before Christmas.

My least favorite would be Thanksgiving. Just not into the food(other than pumpkin pie <3) and the weather is usually gloomy. At least I can count on 3 football games that day :D.
