Bummer! We fell in love with that version of Sherlock over the summer when we watched it on streaming. We can't go to theaters, so all this tells me is it's going to take a much longer time to see the next one.
It will air on the BBC January 1 and On January 5 and 6 in theaters to get the BIG Screen and 20 ADDITIONAL minutes. So you can still watch it or wait for Netflix to stream it to you! It's all good! You won't miss it! No one needs to be bummed!

My favourite episode would be.... hard to choose, it has to be one of these four: The Final Problem, A Study in Pink, The Great Game and of course His Last Vow :)
Oh for sure. It's like choosing between children.

SINCE we're all already here:

I'm so glad this isn't just another Robert Downey Junior movie. I really didn't like the American spin on Sherlock. Other than the visuals, they were bad. Moffat's Sherlock is where it's at. :)
I was able to appreciate RDJ's Sherlock for what it was: Hollywoodized (and for some reason extremely steampunk) American Sherlock Holmes. Entertaining in and of itself, but a nightmare for most true Sherlock Holmes fans. I do have to admit though... that soundtrack delights me to no end.
Bless you, Hans Zimmer.

(Funny thing about Moffat and Gatiss... You can't trust them with Doctor Who because they have no restraints... but they're devoted Sherlockian nerds and they stick to the general idea and feel of the original stories with a borderline religious fervor.)

I had no problem with the steampunk setting or even many of the characters, but I felt Sherlock and Watson were terribly portrayed (not in the acting or anything). The actors were just terribly miscast.

I enjoy much of Moffat and Gatiss' work on Doctor Who, but yes, they do over-complicate things at times and sometimes they make the stupidest decisions. I guess not everything one touches can be turned to gold.

Never mind the fact that they're heartless sadists xD

So who would you have cast for Holmes and Watson in the movie?

(If we were discussing the old b&w tv show, there's a devious and illogical part of me that would be greatly amused at seeing James Corden as Watson... xD Shame on myself...)
