I'm so glad this isn't just another Robert Downey Junior movie. I really didn't like the American spin on Sherlock. Other than the visuals, they were bad. Moffat's Sherlock is where it's at.
(Funny thing about Moffat and Gatiss... You can't trust them with Doctor Who because they have no restraints... but they're devoted Sherlockian nerds and they stick to the general idea and feel of the original stories with a borderline religious fervor.)

I was able to appreciate RDJ's Sherlock for what it was: Hollywoodized (and for some reason extremely steampunk) American Sherlock Holmes. Entertaining in and of itself, but a nightmare for most true Sherlock Holmes fans. I do have to admit though... that soundtrack delights me to no end.

I enjoy much of Moffat and Gatiss' work on Doctor Who, but yes, they do over-complicate things at times and sometimes they make the stupidest decisions. I guess not everything one touches can be turned to gold.
