I've known of God since I was little. I went to Sunday School and Church until about 8th grade. I don't go to church as of right now. I believe in God but can't seem to find my passion. I want to give my life to Christ and live in his glory, feel close to Him, but I can't seem to find how to get close. Please share your stories on your passion, turning point and what may have helped you. Thank you.

I read the bible a lot, at first. Every day. For years.

It was when I started praying along with reading the bible that I started to get closer to the Lord.

I started asking for wisdom and spiritual gifts and understanding. I asked for help.

I asked God into my life when I was 12yo at Christian camp. I was saved then but didn't allow Him to be my Lord. Actually I only heard the savior part until the past few years. The biggest challenges have been understanding grace, trusting God and prayer. I have been reading about His grace and trusting Him and am starting to understand. Prayer sorry to say is more difficult but like He says "seek and ye shall find ". I do attend church. But like I think you are saying is that I am somewhat disillusioned. But that is what the enemy wants so I press on. I know enough to know the gospel is for real.

I just reread your post and would suggest you listen to a presentation given by John Lynch of True Faced ministries. It is on YouTube and addresses the very issue you have as well as my issues.

I can relate to you completely. I was 18 when I first believed in Christ. I didn't know anything except that once I was lost but now I am saved. But I knew I had found a gold mine in Christ and wanted to know more. I was a seeker. I bounced around from one church to another, looking for someone to teach me the way. I went to hear many different and famous christian ministers and writers. I read their books, I heard them on the radio, I went to their lectures when they were in town. I soon discovered that there were a lot of different and contradictory ideas and opinions about what the Bible taught. After about three years of this sort of thing I finally came upon a truly great minister. His ministry focused on in depth and systematic teaching of the Word of God. He was brilliant, insightful, an expert in the original languages of scripture, and he could teach! I had finally found a home where I could learn and grow up spiritually. His congregation got a better education than a seminary could give.

My advice to you is to find such a minister. Someone who is qualified to teach and from whom you can learn. There is no one pastor for everyone. You have to find the right fit. Pray about it and begin your search. God knows you are seeking His face. We grow close to God by learning the word of God. You can not love someone you do not know. The growth process takes time, but make a beginning! Be a faithful student (disciple) of the Word of God. Learn, believe, apply. God bless you as He has me.
