How Did You Get Here?

Tell us the story of how you got to ChristianChat. Was it referred by a friend? Were you just googling "family friendly chatrooms" and CC came up? Was it something supernatural (like CC magically opened up on your browser)?

Yeah, it was pretty much that second one. I was in need of a nice site like this. I was in a time of struggle, fear, and depression....I came here, and found some answers. And some fun, here and there.

I actually stumbled upon CC purely by accident as I was broken and going through some personal struggles and it helped me out so much. One member specifically was my rock through it all and she no longer comes on. I would actually go months without logging in and felt the Holy Spirit drag me back the end of last year and since that time I have met awesome people who encourage me and help me find strength to push through the hurdles that have been set before me.

I don't have any crazy story to tell, but I remember googling Christian Chat one day. I've been a member of many different forums over the years and I used to be part of one dedicated to Christian fans of anime and manga (don't worry, I'm not obsessive). I just wanted to join another Christian discussion forum. I'd browsed many others, but you either had to be a MENSA-equivalent theologian to make head or tale of most discussions or there was little to nothing to separate it from a non-Christian discussion forum. I actually browsed this forum for several weeks before I decided to join. Here's my very first post. Not a whole lot has changed.

It's great to be here. My name is Christian and I'm an Aussie. I'm also a Christian and have been ever since I can remember (and before that, perhaps). Father/Son/Spirit and family and friends are all incredibly important to me. I love reading. My favourite fiction books include Stephen King's The Stand, Herge's The Adventures of Tintin (naturally) and C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia - and many, many others. Both the Narnia and Tintin books created in me a love for reading. The Narnia books have been instrumental in helping me to grow in my faith and imagination (all the way from childhood to adulthood), while Tintin sated my thirst for adventure. I love to write stories and draw cartoons and have an interest in philosophy, mythology and theology. I enjoy movies and quality discussion. My favourite TV series of all time is LOST. I believe that imagination and faith go hand-in-hand and that the Church needs to embrace the Arts rather than shy from them. I strive to be discerning. Finally, I enjoy exploring God's fingerprints in popular culture. Story is my life.

As Phnx above mentioned I think some people are driven here out of some sort of distress - self included, looking for like minded people and advice. Perhaps they get relief or discover more - I know I have as I have changed my view on something I held to lifelong....the back and forth discussions and strongly expounded views are very illuminating, even if u don't agree....

Also some of the personalities are intriguing....

I was suspended at the gear page for a "religious" post. I was kind of frustrated about the whole deal and somehow I found this place. It's been interesting to say the least. I think I'll skip reading over my post history. I'm probably a bit neurotic. Lol

Google. I forget why I searched in the first place, but since joining, I've met about 5 or so people in person, a couple of Rush fans, and even dated a member for nearly a year. Crazy...

I was attempting to get out of the dark pit of depression that I was in. I won't relate the whole story here, you can read my threads below, but anywho, my depression was probably at it's lowest point EVER in my entire lifetime. I knew things had to change, so I started to figure out some positive stuff I could do to help myself. I went online, looked for christian chat sites, and found this one. It was the ONLY one I found, that I could preview before I joined. So I joined, and nearly two years later, I'm still here. CC has really helped and supported me, especially over the last year when I spent 6 months in bed nearly 24/7 with a herniated disk and sciatica in my leg. The people here played a HUGE part in keeping my spirits high during that difficult and tenuous time.

I don't remember why but I just typed in christian chat into google, found this site and it looked interesting so I signed up.

As for me, I was 16 then and I ventured into the world of Yahoo lel. Yahoo chat was nasty and I thought the world was really really cruel and that I was too young for that stuff. I was a Christian for a year. Interestingly, a friend of mine, who was from the Jehovah's Witnesses, introduced me to the "internet". Everyday I would get on Yahoo to see how people from the other side of the world talked and behaved lel. Ultimately I retreated to finding something else that was less harsh, and I thought, "well Christians aren't harsh! " - oh to be young and innocent . So I searched for a Christian Yahoo lol. I did find a Christian room in Yahoo but, most of the people were either bots or trolls. Lol. So I searched Christian Chat and obviously, this one came up. The first person I met were Stilly and Harpay. It's been a love/hate relationship for quite some time. Now, I think, I can't get rid of CC anymore, even if I tried

What's Rush?

I just googled christian chat room and this was the first site, so I clicked it lol. I logged into the chat room once and one person greeted me(I still remember who that was lol), but I kind of felt out of place here, so I barely logged on for a few weeks after that. I did eventually get used to it though.

Google is my friend. My friend introduced me to CC. Now CC is my friend also.

Seriously, I googled "Christian chat" and found this site. I stopped Googling because I found a cool place with some cool people. It has some uncool people too, but most of them manage to get themselves banned fairly quickly.

These days I'm cool with most things, seeing as the ambient temperature is well south of Zero in my part of the world. Any openings in Florida for a data analyst? It would be nice to be able to swim or fish somewhere without moving the solid water out of the way first.
