So I thought I was ahead of the game this year.I hate being rushed and doing everything last minute. So I had the house decorated inside and out,all I had to do was put up the second tree.My husband has been doing his current job about 6 months. He does courier work so I knew things would pick up for Christmas. He's been working late, coming home long after dark,he's so tired. Just found out that he's got to work 6 days a week till after Christmas. So I have no idea now how Im going to get shopping and gift buying done. And we won't get to spend the holidays together. On top of that I bought a real tree today and it looked great at the store.Brought it home and the dang thing has a crooked top! It looks like a spoon! Im about ready to cry. I lost my Christmas spirit. :( Im bordering on bah humbug mode.

It's kind of messed up how much the material aspect of the holidays burdens people, you know? Your husband being gone is a legitimate reason to be in a bit of a low place. It really stinks that the things that don't truly matter kind of matter after all and just make matters worse.

Is there anyone you can visit? Maybe get some shopping done online and have the gifts delivered directly to people, if need be?

Wishing you a merry Christmas all the same, kayla. :)

I guess it'll be online shopping this year. Funny thing is my husband is a courier in our town. So maybe if I order a lot of junk each day I can have him home for a while or at least see him! Merry Christmas to you and yours too!

I found a crooked tinsel tree on ebay. It was really funky. I would like to have a tinsel tree and a color wheel.
But I may have to do as my mom used to tell me: you can want in one hand and spit in the other

Blessings and Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

Kayla, that little crooked tree needs some TLC right now. And I might add, ask the Lord for the lesson He wants you to get from this wonderful little tree.

Oh my that sounds like something my mother would tell me! Ive lost a lot of loved ones on or around Christmas. I think Im always trying to recapture those sweet memories but missing them so much at the same time. I guess Im lonely for them and my husband being gone through the season is making me melancholy. He's working hard so I dont want to burden him with it. The tree is just a frustration right now. Anyone have a solution for a crooked tree other than tossing it?

Without sounding morbid, remember my husband just died. I don't even have one this holiday. How lucky you are to still have this husband who is providing for you. And you will soon see him. Hug him hard! And somehow send him little holiday messages while he is gone. Gift him even though apart.

As for this little crooked tree, I already love it because it is not perfect. After the Lord gives you the lesson He wants to see about the crooked top, share it with people who come to see you. And remember, this little tree once was beautifully straight.

Use it!

It's not morbid at all.I'm sorry for your loss. I understand how you feel.I haven't lost a husband but I have lost loved ones dear to me around this time of year. It's not that Im not thankful but it's that this time of year reminds me of how many of my family are gone. I lost my aunt who was like my second mom to stomach cancer just before Christmas. She had even bought gifts before she passed away. I lost my grandmother on my moms side to cancer at the same time of year, and another aunt died a week after her, also to cancer. Finally my grandmother on my fathers side died just after Christmas of a massive brain tumor. So its just a melancholy time of year with a lot of memories. Some good memories for sure but sadness that they aren't at the table. Again I'm so sorry for your loss.

Maybe the crooked tree represents me.Perhaps I still need some healing from grief.

Kayla, I bought this Charlie Brown Christmas tree some years back to help me get over my holiday blues at that time. My kids were grown and living miles away, my husband had passed away, I was all alone. I had no reason to decorate. It took great effort for me not to get depressed. Then I spotted this ridiculous Charlie Brown tree displayed in the store and I just thought it was the funniest thing! So I bought one and set it up in my livingroom. Every time I looked at it I laughed!! It's just hilarious looking! And whenever anyone came to my house, I'd ask them what they thought of my "beautiful Christmas tree display". Hahaha!! That comical tree actually helped me get thru the holidays that year.

Aww that's cute. I'm missing getting out to church too. I dont drive so that makes it hard. I like the tree.lol Im from Canada but Im living in the south so I get a real tree to remind me of home. It's this time of year we miss our loved ones the most. Also sorry to hear of your loss.

Its funny the things that get us through. My sisters first birthday after our aunt passed we really wanted to make special because it had only been two months since her passing. She is an artist and at the time was big into drawing Disney characters. So we got her a helium balloon with one of the princesses on it. Well my father started to bring the cake and balloon out of the car,we wanted to surprise her,and the wind caught the balloon! I saw it and took my sisters attention away from the window. But our German Shepard loved balloons and loved playing with them and bouncing them off his nose.So he was going crazy, jumping at the window and following the balloon around the house to the patio doors. So I was trying to distract her AND the dog. Ya try getting a German Shepards attention when it fixates on something. We got the balloon and gave her the surprise. But I think the story of the dog following the balloon and me trying to calm him down and distract her brought her more cheer than the gifts. lol lol

I think it really has to be brought back to Jesus, who was born in a manger - a feeding trough for animals. Your little tree sort of represents that because all mangers were made out of wood. And being a crooked one speaks of humility.

Now is the time to look at all the other beautiful branches of your tree, and maybe place an angel on the top. Being crooked, that angel would be looking down at you?

Make the "crook" the theme. It could be fabulous!
But then, my mind works in weird ways like that ...:p
