In the country where I come from, it is normal for us to go out to a shop for lunch during work hours (most families eat out every day too). As I am now working in an International School; with majority English people; my boss (an English) wondered why I go out to take lunch everyday.

The economical crisis is hitting our shores real bad and the government had introduced the GST since 1 April 2015. Prices are going up and with 2016 coming by, the price increased even more. I've been thinking, perhaps, bringing lunch to work is a good idea but I don't like my salad to go soggy, cold food, etc. because I prefer my food to be freshly made. Any ideas or suggestions? How best shall I pack my food to bring to work?

If you store your salads in a mason jar, they stay fresh. You just pour it out into a bowl or plate at lunch.

When I could afford lunch with the money I made, (and didn't work in a dangerous neighborhood), I went out for lunch. When I couldn't, I brown-bagged it. (Americans often make sandwiches that won't spoil and put them in small brown bags. My favorite was peanut butter and jam. If there was a refrigerator at work -- and usually there was, bologna and mustard was good as a sandwich.)

Truth be told, there's another mentality the Americans will catch you up in if you go with their version of eating lunch at work. The next step is to convince you you have too much work to do, so work while eating lunch.

It's not how the economy is for everyone that should concern you, it's your economy. If you've been doing fine while eating out for lunch, keep doing that.

Americans keep wanting the entire world to be just like us. Kind of a dumb notion, particularly when they work abroad. The whole purpose of working abroad is to learn about and enjoy a different culture. So, be kind. Try and train the Americans about your ways of living. We really could use more of a dose of American life isn't the only way. :)

I don't want to sound like a commercial, but seriously best thing I bought myself! I totally feel the difference for a year now in the nutrition I receive from these smoothies. I haven't gotten a cold or flu in a year!
