Hmm, wasn't all that bad. It's hard to put this and Ducky from NCIS together.
I don't think I have ever seen that show; I have lived without TV for most of my adult life, though the few years I did have one probably made up for all those years without LOL :)

This Al Stewart LP was released in 1973. I loved that it was
not love songs, but historical drama in song :)

Al Stewart - Roads To Moscow, from Past, Present, Future

They crossed over the border the hour before dawn
Moving in lines through the day, most of our planes
Were destroyed on the ground where they lay
Waiting for orders we held in the wood,
Word from the front never came

By evening the sound of the gunfire was miles away

Ah, softly we move through the shadows, slip away through the trees
Crossing their lines in the mists in the fields on our hands and our knees
And how that I ever was able to see

The fire in the air glowing red silhouetting the smoke on the breeze

All summer they drove us back through the Ukraine
Smolensk and Viyasma soon fell,
By autumn we stood with our backs to the town of Orel

Closer and closer to Moscow they come, riding the wind like a bell
General Guderian stands at the crest of the hill,
Winter brought with her the rains, oceans of mud filled the roads
Gluing the tracks of their tanks to the ground while the sky filled with snow

And now that I ever was able to see the fire in the air
Glowing red silhouetting the snow on the breeze

In the footsteps of Napoleon the shadow figures stagger through the winter
Falling back before the gates of Moscow standing in the wings like an avenger

And far away behind their lines the partisans are stirring in the forest
Coming unexpectedly upon their outposts, growing like a promise

You'll never know, you'll never know
Which way to turn, which way to look, you'll never see us

As we're stealing through the blackness of the night
You'll never know, you'll never hear us

And the evening sings in a voice of amber, the dawn is surely coming
The morning road leads to Stalingrad, and the sky is softly humming

Two broken Tigers on fire in the night
Flicker their souls to the wind,
We wait in the lines for the final approach to begin,
It's been almost four years that I've carried a gun
At home it'll almost be spring

The flames of the Tigers are lighting the road to Berlin

Ah, quickly we move through the ruins that bow to the ground
The old men and children they send out to face us they can't slow us down
And now that I ever was able to see

The eyes of the city are opening now it's the end of the dream

I'm coming home, I'm coming home now you can taste it in the wind,
The war is over
And I listen to the clicking of the train wheels as we roll across the border

And now they ask me of the time that I was caught behind their lines and taken prisoner
"They only held me for a day, a lucky break", I say
They turn and listen closer

I'll never know, I'll never know

Why I was taken from a line and all the others?
To board a special train and journey deep into the heart of holy Russia
And it's cold and damp in the transit camp and the air is still and sullen
And the pale sun of October w
hispers the snow will soon be coming
And I wonder when I'll be home again
And the morning answers never
And the evening sighs and the steely Russian skies go on forever

Ok.....Moody Blues, right?

'All we are trying to say
Is we are all we've got
You and me just cannot fail
If we never, never stop.....'

Ok, so why did you stop?
For no good reason,
No reason at all, really,
But surely no good one?
Who does this.....?
What christian does this?
What Moody Blues fan does this?
What christian moody blues fan does this?

I used the link Magenta supplied at Wiki, I think I'll stick with the Bible. ;) This reminds me of Edgar Cayce. My husband and I were reading some of the stuff from his foundation many years ago and we looked at each other one day and had to admit we felt uneasy and confused from it. Never picked up any Cayce stuff again.
I looked into Cayce when I was in my twenties and thirties... before becoming Christian :)
That topic goes well with this next Al Stewart song, from Past, Present and Future ;)

Al Stewart - Nostradamus

In the east the wind is blowing
The boats across the sea
And their sails will fill the morning
And their cries ring out to me

Oh, oh, oh, the more it changes
The more it stays the same
And the hand just re-arranges
The players in the game

Oh, I had a dream
It seemed I stood alone
And the veil of all the years
Goes sinking from my eyes like a stone

A king shall fall and put to death
By the English parliament shall be
Fire and plague to London come
In the year of six and twenties three

An emperor of France shall rise
Who will be born near Italy
His rule shall cost his empire
Dear Napoloron his name shall be

From Castile does Franco come
And the Government driven out shall be
An English king seeks divorce
And from his throne cast down is he

One named Hister shall become
A captain of Greater Germany
No law does this man observe
And bloody his rise and fall shall be

Man, man, your time is sand
Your ways are leaves upon the sea
I am the eyes of Nostradamus
All your ways are known to me

Man, man, your time is sand
Your ways are leaves upon the sea
I am the eyes of Nostradamus
All your ways are known to me

In the new lands of America
Three brothers now shall come to power
Two alone are born to rule
But all must die before their hour

Two great men yet brothers not
Make the north united stand
Its power be seen to grow
And fear possess the eastern lands

Three leagues from the gates of Rome
A Pope named Pol is doomed to die
A great wall that divides a city at this time is cast aside
These are the signs I bring to you
To show you when the time is nigh

Man, man, your time is sand
Your ways are leaves upon the sea
I am the eyes of Nostradamus
All your ways are known to me

You're obviously deliberately trying to hurt me over and over, magenta.
I'd really like to know why.

Don't any of the things you say you've been through
make you realize how much this hurts?

What did I do to deserve being totally ignored
and treated like a piece of crap?
What christian does this to someone
they once spoke words of love to?
Wow, what christian even does this to a stranger, even?

Hey, does anyone else on this thread see this?
I tried so many times in private...I got nothing but ice,
so as a christian, I'm trying to get answers in public.

If you go to take communion, and remember someone
has somthing against you, go be reconciled, right?
Or how bout the gospel of the 60s, All you need is love?

I've stood, and stand with open arms, with forgiveness,
reconciliation, and love for magenta in my heart.
Why am I continually being ignored
and treated like a worthless piece of crap?

I have had my heart cut out,
I have tried a thousand times to communicate.
Why am I being treated like this?
I am asking as a christian to christians on a christian site.
I stand with a broken heart but still open to love.

I am posting a live version of this song, even though one of the lyrics
is changed from the original LOL a bottomless swimsuit?
 Haha
This charted at number one in 1969 :)

Peter Sarstedt - Where do you go to my lovely

You talk like Marlene Dietrich
And you dance like Zizi Jeanmaire
Your clothes are all made by Balmain
And there`s diamonds and pearls in your hair

You live in a fancy appartement
Of the Boulevard of St. Michel
Where you keep your Rolling Stones records
And a friend of Sacha Distel

But where do you go to my lovely
When you're alone in your bed
Tell me the thoughts that surround you
I want to look inside your head

I've seen all your qualifications
You got from the Sorbonne
And the painting you stole from Picasso
Your loveliness goes on and on, yes it does

When you go on your summer vacation
You go to Juan-les-Pines
With your carefully designed topless swimsuit
You get an even suntan, on your back and on your legs

When the snow falls you're found in St. Moritz
With the others of the jet-set
And you sip your Napoleon Brandy
But you never get your lips wet

But where do you go to my lovely
When you're alone in your bed
Tell me the thoughts that surround you
I want to look inside your head, yes I do

Your name is heard in high places
You know the Aga Khan
He sent you a racehorse for chistmas
And you keep it just for fun, for a laugh haha

They say that when you get married
It'll be to a millionaire
But they don't realize where you came from
And I wonder if they really care, they give a damn

But where do you go to my lovely
When you're alone in your bed
Tell me the thoughts that surround you
I want to look inside your head

I remember the back streets of Naples
Two children begging in rags
Both touched with a burning ambition
To shake off their lowly brown tags, yes they try

So look into my face Marie-Claire
And remember just who you are
Then go and forget me forever
`Cause I know you still bear
the scar, deep inside, yes you do

I know where you go to my lovely
When you're alone in your bed
I know the thoughts that surround you
`Cause I can look inside your head

This young woman was one of the first musicians to sign to The Beatles' Apple label.:)

Mary Hopkin - Those Were The Days

Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And think of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days.
La la la la...

I don't bother reading these lyrics because the one posting them
obviously keeps jamming more knives into my heart.
Why, magenta, why did you throw away our friendship
out of the clear blue, why do you continue to treat me
like a piece of crap and have no conscience about it.

Should we really read lyrics posted by someone
who keeps turning love into a lie?
What are you trying to prove by ignoring me
and continuing to post lyrics from songs about love.
You are hurting me and you are hurting yourself
and you are lying to all of us, taking a beautiful thing
and throwing it in the trash for no good reason.

You spoke words of love, and now you ignore?
How would you like to be treated like this?
What did I do to deserve this from you?

Are you trying to prove how mean you can be?
What's the point. You spoke words of love
and you come here publicly to humiliate me.
I shared things with you I never shared with anyone
and you continue to trash me!

If you are a christian you will talk to me and explain why
you continue to treat me like I don't exist.
I trusted you with things I never discussed with anyone,
I'm a human being, and no matter what you want to paint me as,
I have feelings just like anyone else and I deserve an explanation.

Why do you continue to treat me like a piece of sh__?
What christian does this? This is really cruel.
I don't see why you think this is funny, but it isn't,
it really hurts and only you can stop the hurting
and explain why you keep doing this.
I'm hurting for you as much as myself...
even more, because I know how wrong this is for anyone to do.

What happened to you, magenta,
you turned like I have never seen from anyone before,
at least no one sober, or who claims to be christian.
What happened? Whatever it is can be forgiven,
but please stop treating me like I don't exist.

This song was outta sight, from 1969 :)

Friends of Distinction - Grazing In The Grass

Sure it is mellow grazin' in the grass
Grazin' in the grass, it's a gas, baby, can you dig it?
What a trip, just watchin' as the world goes past
Grazin' in the grass, it's a gas, baby, can you dig it?

There are so many groovy things to see while grazin' in the grass
Grazin' in the grass, it's a gas, baby, can you dig it?
Flowers with colors for makin' everything outta sight in the grass
Grazin' in the grass, it's a gas, baby, can you dig it?

Here we go
The sun breathing down between the leaves
Grazin' in the grass, it's a gas, baby, can you dig it?
And the birds dartin' in and out of the trees
Grazin' in the grass, it's a gas, baby, can you dig it?

Everything here is so clear, you can see it
And everything here is so near, you can feel it
And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real
Can you dig it?

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby?

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby?

The sun beaming down between the leaves
And the birds dartin' in and out of the trees

Everything here is so clear, you can see it
And everything here is so real, you can feel it
And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real
Can you dig it?

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby?

I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it
We can dig it, they can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it, can you dig it, baby?

Come on, magenta. Cut the baloney and talk real to me. We both deserve better than this, and unless you are seriosly schizophrenic, you know this ain't happenin. You have my address, 2 phone numbers, email, google, hangouts, pm, threads and chat, we have got to get it together, cut the crap, and come together...we're missing too much already.

Wasn't into Dylan and besides you needed an interpreter to understand him. :p

A lot of his fans were really mad at him when he switched frim acoustic to electric guitar and saw him as no longer being a purest.
I agree that he is an acquired taste. I remember that controversy over the guitar switch but it never bothered me. I recall that he also had a brief 'encounter' with Christianity some time in the eighties. He recorded the Slow Train coming Album at that time. With him being Jewish I think it drew some attention at the time.

I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days.
La la la la...
Mary Hopkin. A little Welsh girl who was a winner of a top TV talent show over here.
Her contract had a clause that she had to record some songs in welsh! I never heard any of them but Im sure they were probably popular in the Valleys. She had a few more hits after this one and then vanished into history.

I was more familiar with Blood on the Tracks; Tangled up In Blue was one of my fave songs to play on guitar :) I knew all the words by heart :cool:A few years ago I had a nephew going to university here when Bob came to town with Mark Knopfler opening up for him, so I took him and my daughter to see that concert, certainly more for Mark than for Bob. The Bob part of the concert barely interested me at all...

Early one mornin' the sun was shinin'
I was layin' in bed
Wond'rin' if she'd changed at all
If her hair was still red

Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough

And I was standin' on the side of the road
Rain fallin' on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through

Tangled up in blue

She was married when we first met
Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess
But I used a little too much force

We drove that car as far as we could
Abandoned it out west
Split up on a dark sad night
Both agreeing it was best

She turned around to look at me
As I was walkin' away
I heard her say, over my shoulder
We'll meet again someday on the avenue

Tangled up in blue

I had a job in the great north woods
Working as a cook for a spell
I never did like it all that much
And one day the axe just fell

So I drifted down to New Orleans
Where I was lucky to be employed
Workin' for a while on a fishin' boat
Right outside of Delacroix

But all the while I was alone
The past was close behind
I seen a lot of women
But she never escaped my mind and I just grew

Tangled up in blue

She was workin' in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer
I just kept lookin' at the side of her face
In the spotlight so clear

And later on the crowd thinned out
I's just about to do the same
She was standing there in back of my chair
Sayin', Jackie, don't I know your name?

I muttered somethin' underneath my breath
She studied the lines on my face
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe

Tangled up in blue

She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe
I thought you'd never say hello, she said, you look like the silent type
Then she opened up a book of poems and handed it to me
Written by an Italian poet from the thirteenth century

And every one of them words rang true
And glowed like burnin' coal
Pourin' off of every page
Like it was written in my soul from me to you

Tangled up in blue

I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the cafes at night
And revolution in the air

Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside

And one day finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keepin' on like a bird that flew

Tangled up in blue

So now I'm goin' back again
I got to get to her somehow
All the people we used to know
They're an illusion to me now

Some are mathematicians
Some are carpenter's wives
Don't know how it all got started
I don't know what they're doin' with their lives

But me, I'm still on the road
Headin' for another joint
We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point of view
Tangled up in blue

Thanks, friends you're all heart. Where is the love? I sense it's not true for some. Alotta talk but no reality. Right here reaching out. Who's got a heart...a genuine heart?

Yous are almost making me hate my own music, magenta likes this, tanakh likes that, sydlit gets skipped and ignored, magenta spoke of love, out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. Do you ppl even have a soul. You don't even have the grace to talk to a brother? This is getting sickening. You really need to take a good hard look at the reality of this. Stomping on someones heart is no fn joke.

Songs like this were a staple of my teen years :)

Four Tops - Bernadette

Bernadette people are searching
For the kind of love that we possess
Some go on searching their whole life through
And never find the love I've found in you

And when I speak of you, I see envy in other men's eyes
And I'm well aware of what's on their minds
They pretend to be my friend when all the time
They long to persuade you from my side
They'd give the world and all they own for
Just one moment we have known

Bernadette they want you
Because of the pride that it gives
But Bernadette I want you because
I need you to live

But while I live only to hold you
Some other men, they long to control you
But how can they control you Bernadette
When they can not control themselves Bernadette

From wanting you, needing you
But darling you belong to me, I'll tell the world
You belong to me, I'll tell the world
You're the soul of me, I'll tell the world
You're a part of me Bernadette

In your arms I find the kind of peace of mind the world is searching for
But you, you give me the joy this heart of
Mine has always been longing for
In you I have what other men long for
All men need someone to worship and adore
That's why I treasure you and place you high above
For the only joy in life is to be loved

So whatever you do, Bernadette
Keep on loving me, Bernadette
Keep on needing me, Bernadette
Bernadette you're the soul of me, more than a dream
You are planned to me
And Bernadette you mean more to me
Than a woman was ever meant to be
Bernadette

Roadhouse Blues is my favorite song by the Doors. Jim Morrison always looked wasted.

Gosh, magenta, Even the minstrel song? you skip right right over me with the like button before and after, but not the minstrel song ? What, because I put it there? This hatred that came from no where is getting so blatant, how can you continue every day posting about love and good times, and just keep ignoring me, when 2 months ago we were talking words of love. This isn't bothering you even a little?! You dump me cold for no good reason, and have absolutely no love in your heart, no christian reconciliation, you just keep treating me like an insignifigant nothing and talk all this love stuff at the same time, and you don't see anything wrong with that?! Who treats peopke like this?! The only gripe was I talk in public?! Well, duh, you ignore every opportunity to discuss things in private...you know I'm right here seeing all theses posts...why did you trash our friendship, and why do you keep talking like you're so into all this love and peace all the while ttreating me like a piece of crap. We shared all this stuff, I shared more with you than anyone I know, and you took me and stomped me down and continue to do so, and as a christian, and supposedly you are, too, I would like to know why. I've tried everything I can to communicate withnyou and find out why you continue to treat me like this. Does love only count when you're talking about it online, but when someone is trying to show it to you over and over, suddenly it means nothing to you?! Why, magenta, why? :(The
Minstrel Song? Everywhere, love is all around? HELLO?
That's a enough of this crap sydlit! You're a SPOOKY DUDE!!!!! If you havn't noticed Magenta isn't the only one that is now not replying to you ;)

This could be considered stalking and if you don't knock it off, I'm going to turn you into the moderators.

It's a current show on CBS. I posted his Year Of The Cat, I love that song.
