Anyone else not give a flip about football or the superbowl?... I can't imagine anything more boring than watching a football game. However it is something that is so deeply ingrained in our culture that if you tell people you don't like it, they look at you like you're from another planet

I know what you mean. But I feel the same way when people say they don't like to read.

Which planet are you from? (I am trying to be humorous.) I like football, but I keep hearing these stories about NFL players having serious difficulties late in life because of head injuries.

I used to love football as a kid and was even on my high school team, but now I can't watch it for more than a few minutes before I get bored. Don't care for any other sports either. I basically lost interest when I realized that most of these highly paid pro athletes skated through college because of their athletic ability and are now just overgrown high school jocks. There are exceptions of course, but it seems like you always hear about some sports figure getting arrested or in trouble for something yet they make more money than doctors.

Yup. We have soccer here instead of football. If Holland is in the final with the world championship I like it, but for the rest I think it's boring. My son is a big soccer fan though, so sometimes I have to play it myself, which is funny.

I watched some clips of rugby once and was pretty impressed. Those guys have no fear! American football often has harder hits though and the mass of the average lineman in american football makes those hits similar to being slammed by a truck.

I think football is as interesting as watching paint dry, but my Dad loves it so I watch it with him so we can spend time together.

That's because the human body is not intended for these types of collisions....I just can't see what people find so entertaining. ...throw, catch, run, tackle, repeat.

I enjoy the game, but the fanaticism over team localities is kind of a drag to me.

Now ice skating, long distance, that is exiting or darts.
And I had to watch all of that when I was married. Now finally I am delivered from watching soccer matches, biking, skating, the talk afterwards and look, now my son is a big fan. Luckily I learned to endure it.
