dys·func·tion (dĭs-fŭngk′shən)
n.
1. Abnormal or impaired functioning of a bodily system or organ.
2. Failure to achieve or sustain a behavioral norm or expected condition, as in a social relationship.

The disfunctional family...
Proverbs 19:13King James Version (KJV)
13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

When I read this, the first impression that came to me was, this is a dysfunctional family. The wife is a constant nag, and the son will not listen to mom or dad. In many households, because of this, the dad do not want to come back home, or have anything to do with his wife anymore, or really want anything to do with his family at all.
Dysfunctional homes become dysfunctional neighborhoods.
Dysfunctional neighborhoods
becomes dysfunctional counties.
Dysfunctional counties becomes a dysfunctional state.
A dysfunctional state join together with all the other dysfunctional States now become a dysfunctional nation.

Now the reverse of this, is that every Christians take all the instructions from the Bible, and applied them to the core of their being.
Then our households would become "God functional".
Our neighborhoods would become
"God functional".
Our counties would become
"God functional".
Our States would become
"God functional".
And our nation would become more "God functional" then what it is right now.

if only it was this simple. My view on it is two emotionally healthy adults modeling how emotionally healthy people resolve conflict, practice empathy and fight fair is the key to a functional family. Lots of variables to consider but grace is the answer

Ouch! Miri, you are right,My writing did seem like it was all pointed towards the wives and children. There are many husbands who are at fault also.
Husband's who are drunkard louses who cheat on theirs wives and come home and beat the hell of them. I know, because as a kid, my dad before he became saved, was
a drunk, a bully, a womanizer, and a wife beater. So I do stand corrected in this.

When I read this, the first impression that came to me was, this is a dysfunctional family. The wife is a constant nag, and the son will not listen to mom or dad. In many households, because of this, the dad do not want to come back home, or have anything to do with his wife anymore, or really want anything to do with his family at all.

1 Timothy 3:2-5 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.

Colossians 3:18-20 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Here are just a few verses where it speaks of the man's role in the household, referring to what you had said. It is not solely the woman's role to discipline her children, nor is she solely responsible if her children act poorly. To me, this sounds like you're trying to make excuses for allowing a man to be negligent, and justifing the lack of assuming his role and responsibility for his children in his own household.

These are the kind of statements that breeds dysfunction within families. If a father, a man, a husband does not know what is expected of him according to God, and practices his own knowledge instead, thinking he is justified and right, instead of learning and following God's word, that causes dysfunction. Of course this applies to women and children, but since you did not cover men, and their role in the household, I wanted to point that out specifically.

A preacher said years ago with the start of the Fatherheart movement: the church is like a dysfunctional family. Where is Dad?
