I've recently read a book about the Glencoe massacre. Disturbing story. ... and all done to give the ruling class in the south access to pastures for their sheep :(

It's a beautiful valley though, and there are incredible amounts of deer

Our bus tour guide told us that to this day, Mc Donalds food places refuse to sell Campbell's soup because of that...

I think he was joking..?

I am good at guessing....
I only knew three or four for sure, but I got 11 correct :D

Depelted: Most the people I met spoke Scottish yes. It took me a week or two to understand even simple sentences :p

as for the quail: I don't know if there are rules restricting hunting them, but some places there are so many pheasants that I suspect you could just slow down the car, stick your arm out the window and grab one :D :p
You gut and I'll pluck. :)

as already said glen = valley and mountains are often called ben - something,
but if you were to talk about "a mountain" you'd either call it a mountain or a fell, or even a hill (hillwalking) as many of them aren't all that high.
If you don't need your hands to get to the top, it's a hill. If you need your hands, it's a mountain. (I never realized how many rules we made when we were kids. lol)

That's stuff you never get to see in the Midlantic states. And it's views like that that made me watch the whole series of that Scottish TV show.

There Is a difference In the meaning of "gird up your loins" physically and "gird up your loins" spiritually.

Ephesians 6:12-15
King James Version(KJV)

12.)For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13.)Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14.)Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15.)And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
