Heehee. Guess I forgot to include (Job 38:3):

KJV: "Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me."
NKJV: "Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me."

An example of how KJV is difficult to understand for the modern reader.

Maybe just to the modern man... who doesn't wear a kilt or those robes worn in the Middle East or Africa.

The knobby stays, the hair is removed from crawling along the floor while washing it.

Modern day translation: pull your pants up above your buttocks and tighten your belt.

If really hairy then those legs could wash and wipe the floor dry at the same time,
sort of like a wash and go mop. Lol

Ok so where can I buy a man with hairy knobbly knees to clean my floors. ;)

In Ye Olde Hairy and Knobbly Knees Shoppe? (Might be right after the gird-up-your-loins display.)

There is more than is healthy for laughter?

Oooh, kilts
(Yes, I have a thing for men in kilts. Especially if they have long hair and speak Scottish )

I do wonder though, about the girding, if a common tactic was to yank upwards at the cloth and make your enemy fall over in pain

Is that from Eugene Peterson's The Message???
:) This comment prompted me to check out the parallel from The Message. So, here's "gird up your loins..." MSG version:

"Pull yourself together, Job!
Up on your feet! Stand tall!
I have some questions for you,
and I want some straight answers." (Job 38:3 MSG)
