Hello everyone! I’ve been disturbed about something for the last few days, and wondered what you all thought.

So, I really love some heavy beat music (old rock, newer rock/pop and the like), I’m not someone who enjoys a really heavy beat, but some songs are just cool! Now, I’m not sure if this is normal or not, but my heart rate changes based on the beat of the music I’m listening to, so fast music can really get my heart pumping!

Enough for the back-story…the other day I was listening to a piece of music with a heavy beat and noticing how it got my heart rate up and how it sorta puts me on a “high”. The thought suddenly popped into my head, “this sure feels a lot like what an ex-alcoholic once told me drinking too much alcohol was like”. I really disturbed me; drugs or too much alcohol I, as a Christian, consider wrong. I’m getting the same feeling when I listen to a song with a heavy beat. Am I overthinking this, or is it something I should be concerned about? I wouldn’t think that it would be harmful to my body the way drugs would, and I’ve been careful not to let it become an addiction (as it very well could!) Is it something I should stop? I’d be happy for any input!

Yes, that is true! I guess I'm more worried about the addiction part of it. Thank you SO much for the reply!

My answer is... pray about it, rather than asking for the trillion and one different responses you will get in this forum. It's easy to get led astray by people, even good people, because opinions aren't a good substitute for prayer.

I know a lot of people God has led away from heavier music in their personal walk with Him. Music is very powerful, and each individual's walk with God is different. Some people are effected by it in ways that are very not good. If you're worried about it, ask God for His opinion on it, and then be willing to do or not do, as He leads you.

God always only has your best interests and His glory in mind, and He will be more than happy to give you His input on how He would like you to order the little details of your life. Does it help you grow closer to God and edify you/glorify Him? He cares about both the big things and the little things in our lives.

(Methinks I may have some music to go pray about, as a matter of fact...)

I used to feel like that when I heard it. I don't listen to it anymore. First I thought: well but I can listen to christian hardrock. Same thing and the text: Lord set me free. Oh you mean you're demonically influenced now? No thanks.

Hi ,

Music can be in many different ways and depends on how you let it effect you women were the first to make drums and yes they had different beats for different detail and was used in dance the dance was a very effective way to control people and get caught up in not just the beat the rithum and nothing else mattered some what like a drug induced hypnotic trance .

it can still be used as a control of ,,,,who ever .

I'm a drum core drummer was with the NZ Navy, and I know how it effects people in different ways most of my detail is for march,s very stirring and get you going other is more Orchestral so I see those as pretty good and I play a mix of different music,

hard beat or rock heavy metal type not my detail though I wont say its bad as such just I'm aware of how it controls people and of cause from the 60,s I saw it in action ,

Yes of course I get stirred along and , oh dear looking for the words okay over the last 5 days I,v been listning to some very different from what I'm used to music, some is Gaelic, steampunk, Cyber. epic roman . space music and a lot of others some 500 peaces .

most I though was okay as it goes some I could play along with and other I,ll pass, .

myself I'm quite Regimental and very disciplined so takes a lot to let music get to me in a controlling manner ,

Okay just now this is playing Epic Cyber Music - Cyborg Warriors for myself I like the drumming its Arabic ,
now quite stirring and a good beat good over all to listen to , just not long enough ,

So quite a lot of this music is different any way hope theres some detail in here to help .

If in doubt then just ask The Lord to help you with this sorry gota go ,

...noeleena...
