Greetings,

I just thought that perhaps people might want to share with the world what their computer desktop looks like. I do!

But just in case anyone out there doesn't know how to add a picture of your desktop, here's some instructions how you can do it:

Windows users: http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/general/ht/winscreenshot.htm

Macintosh users: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/screencapturemac/ht/macscreenshot.htm

Linux users: I don't need to tell you how.

Then after you get your desktop picture, you go to Google and type: "free image hosting" Google will bring up several websites and you just choose one. The website I chose is TinyPic.com. They took my picture without me having to sign up or pay any money. Then they give me a link that I can use to post in the forum here.

You can either just post the link if there is HTML code , or you can look for the "yellow post card looking thingy with mountains" at the top of the Message creation window (where you type your post) and that will allow you to paste the link to your picture. It's just over to the right and down one row from the Smiley Face options.

My one fear in creating this thread though is that it might take a long time to load for some people.

Alright, here's my desktop: (clean and simple, though I didn't empty the trash first)

Dude. Linux is awesome, surprised you use it.

This is my laptop.

I don't feel like getting on my desktop today, maybe later. My desktop background is right here....

I'm glad to see a response! I was beginning to think this thread was going to disappear. It's kind of neat to see other people's desktops.

Still with XP eh? I wouldn't use Vista / Seven if someone paid me. I hear there are over 20 programs running in the background spying on users. I don't even trust XP, but I use it for programs that won't work in Wine.

Do you use Linux also? At least I know Ubuntu isn't spying on me, and no viruses either. Pretty darn stable also, though XP never gave me many troubles.

I see you got Chrome as well. You like?

I don't use Chrome, not sure why I have it. I mostly use firefox on my laptop, on my desktop I use IE8. Both of my computers are XP. My desktop came with vista, I got rid of it fast. Downgraded to XP. As far as my linux experience. We have an Ubuntu file server, and webserver in our living room. I used Ubuntu on my desktop for about six months as well. I didn't do much with it, but browsing the internet, simple things. If you are going to play video games, it's best to stick to windows though. Which sucks.

hehem windows such, but there guarantee forces you to keep the OS until it runs out, otherwise it's worth nothing...

i bought a Vista because i had to get a computer fast, it went crazy after a year, so now i have Win 7.. I'll probably surrender and use linux soon, but I'm too used to Win :p sadly it looks more and more like Mac, which I hate

At least the good thing is, that if you want to take the time, you can make Linux look like anything you want. There are always tutorials online if you want to make Ubuntu look like Windows.

That’s something else you Europeans do—you put the day of the month ahead of the month when you print the date.

And how can it be 10:06? Or did you start daylight saving time?

I can’t figure out how to post my entire desktop, though it doesn’t matter since I have absolutely nothing on it but the picture I showed you.
