CAR--Auto-stop good isea/\bad idea?

Some car makers now have computer auto-Stop Brakes.
Can you imagine yourself and friends wizzing down a four lane freeway at 65MH and out of the blue the car computer malfunctions and the car goes into an emergency STOP?
You have two kids in the back seat !!

I've often used the scenario of a box falling out of a truck in front of a new car with that gizmo & the nasty results of a multi car pile-up.

Imagine a bird flying in front of it.

A small animal running across the road, causing people to be seriously hurt or die.

A sack floating across the road.....

I wonder if a torrential downpour would trigger it?

The list goes on & on..... it seems no one has common sense with this thing. Why couldn't the engineers see this? Where was the "think tank" that mulled this over?

If I couldn't bypass it, I wouldn't have a car with it..... it's a death-trap.

I would never buy it.
A friend recently bumped a deer. The only damage to his car or the deer was ALL the air bags went off.
$2000 in repairs.
Just another way to increase the price of overpriced cars and trucks.
I think I will just keep my 78 Chevy pickup. Its served me well for 26 years .
