There are many people who come here and stir up trouble. We at CC commonly refer to them as "trolls".

However, most of them are pretty easy to spot and to expose. I always thought that, according to Internet rules, a troll was someone who comes into a forum to cause trouble, but is very stealth (not heavy-handed) about his/her approach. Concern trolls, for instance, are REALLY difficult to detect sometimes.

I posted this due to the now-closed thread where someone came in pretending to be Christ (the "I AM" thread). This person was painfully obvious about causing trouble and dissension; would that person qualify as a troll? Or something else entirely?

Just curious........

A troll is someone who deliberately causes trouble. Posts flammable topics or makes personal attacks. Stealth has nothing to do with it (other than the skill level of the troll) :)

That guy is the one we refer to as "Jack". He's a many-times-banned member, who has returned here under at LEAST, 100 or more user nicks. His ONLY purpose in coming here is to cause trouble and dissension, so yes, he qualifies as a troll. He's also still here under another nick that hasn't been banned yet. His manner of speaking, and bold black font give him away every time..

He's not too intelligent is he, you would think he would try a different MO. Lol

But even if he did, it's easy to spot a wolf in sheets clothing.

Poor Siberian.

Nothing brings out the troll in him like competition.
Competition and intolerance - and sometimes Vietnamese food. seoul keeps me in check by being a tactful example, though.

Next thing you know, Siberian's going to say I'm "polite" or something... and that's REALLy going to bring out my inner troll!

Well if he's able to bypass all attempts to ban him and return as often as he wants, I'd say that may qualify as intelligent. And if you fear no consequences then why bother with subtly? His boldness (and bold font) are his signature making it known he has managed to come back again and can't be stopped.

What's his other nickname? I think someone really needs to take that guy to a tropical island by himself. Make sure it's deserted and that there's no Internet connection, then leave him there. He's proved many times over that he can't have nice things.

Interesting topic. I'm new here and do not know who that troll is.

But it brings up something that happened to me: I tried to register on CC but was rebuffed three times. Then, the admin asked if I have been here previously and had been banned. Naturally, I said no and was finally allowed to register and post.

Troll is such a nasty word. I would consider myself CC's anti-hero. That guy that's supposed to be the bad guy in the story but you still can't help but love him.

You could always start an Online School for Aspiring Trolls!

Science has proven that the average troll is female, over 50, and blond. Don't know why that is important, just thought I would mention it.
