One might think we would have to travel to exotic places to find beauty, but that's not true. There's beauty all around us and this is what I saw one day after classes:

It was in the evening as my friend Irene and I were getting ready to go horseback riding. Out instructor, Briana, came up to us and said we were going to ride bareback on a trail. With a smile spreading across my face, I ascertained that this was not a joke. After tacking our horses, we walked off into the snowy fields enjoying God's beautiful creations. We conversed and jokes about falling off since I hadn't ridden bareback in years and has never ridden in the snow before. We approached a ditch with water and ice in it. I watched Briana struggle for about 10 minutes to get her pony, Silver, through while admiring her balance the whole time. I joked with Irene about how I was going to leave a buttprint in the snow upon attempting this, but luckily that did not happen. We went to the top of a hill and admired the scenery that included a beautiful pond. We continued to ride through the woods while talking about Mushu from Mulan and was amazed to find out Brian's had memorized every single one of his quotes. The hour came to a close and we returned to the farm. We quickly unpacked our horses, cleaned them off, and put them in their pastures. Irene and I literally ran back after our horses loose in an attempt to warm ourselves. I ran into the bathroom to grab some toilet paper for my running nose as she started the heater in her car. I joined her as we drove back to St. Mary's College of Maryland while enjoying the heat. We talked the whole way back as the blood finally began to return to my toes.

I've been to many places in the world, yet rarely enjoyed what Jesus had to offer because I was so absorbed by my problems. That day while I was riding I finally decided to look up and realized that magical places can be found anywhere if you know how to look. In this case, the place was in a small town 30 minutes from my school.

these are the threads i wish would go on forever.

what a great lesson in the beauty of this world, even though it is fallen.
makes me imagine how beautiful it will be when it's restored.
and how our own troubles can blind us to the things of God.

kudos! :)
