The world is full of bad stuff. Why do people blame God or say, if there was a God, my friend would have never gotten Cancer. This goes for, hurricanes, mass shootings, etc. I never know how to respond.

How do you respond?

There is a lot of pain in the world. Unprocessed pain leads to anger anxiety and depression. Why else do you think Jesus said, blessed is he who mourns for he shall be comforted? I would chase after the source of the persons anger....if they allowed me.

That's very true. I kind of clam up when I hear that stuff. I know everyone is going through something.

People probably figure that God could stop all these bad things from happening, if he wanted to. And when he doesn't, they blame him..

I think people use it as an excuse to not believe in a creator. I would respond that we live in a fallen world because of what man did. I agree with finding out what was the root cause of the issue.

I remember reading something where a Christian was asking why God wouldn't stop a storm from happening and he said Gods response was why don't you? This would be along the line of God gives us the power to do things like that through the HS

and everyone wants to be understood without feeling judged. I screw up sometimes....and when I do I chase after the pain I caused in someone by asking questions and not being defensive or judging. If they're mad at me I give them permission to be. In fact, just the other night I was having dinner with a friend and it came out that I did something that hurt him. It wasn't that what I did was right or wrong, it was about the feelings that it brought up for my friend. (Had to do with purchasing something from someone else). Anyway, I literally said to him "are you mad about that...he said yes....I said you can be mad at me and I'd like to hear more about that. We sat there and he told me all that that did inside him. I asked questions and never once defended my decision...I didn't have to because it wasn't about me.

God's ways are higher than our ways. If you do not have an understanding on God's thought processes you may tend to blame Him for the negative consequences of poor choices or mistake God's disciple for hate. It's good to remember that God character reflects the love that He has for us. God hears and answers all prayer but perhaps not in the way that we can understand it at the time.

...Why do people blame God?...
Quite often it's because an indivdual has done something that they know they shouldn't have done and instead of facing up to being responsible for their own actions they cop out by blaming someone else...usually God!

I think maybe because some people live by the here and now instead of looking towards the there and after.

He can't just do anything He wants, otherwise everybody would be healed and saved. He needs His Body. People have free will. He can't kill everyone who does something bad, He can only end it all, but He wants everyone saved. Hurricanes etc, all a result of the fall and the flood. Then some say: why doesn't He solve the hunger in Africa? Because people can do that but are too selfish and there aren't many people like Heidi Baker who gets multiplication of food for the orphans. Something like that. I once made a whole thread about it in Dutch, because we kept getting these same questions from atheists over and over again. God is like the house owner who rents you a house. Man has the authority, gave it to the devil, Jesus took it back, gave it to the church. Now we must do things in His Name and pray. Then they get mad because so and so also prayed.
Sigh actually nowadays I only do an effort to answer if someone really is interested and one girl, why did God not help my dad? Why did my dad die? Ehm, no standard answer, an 'I don't know' and 'awww' is better in that case.

Isaiah 48:18 "If only you had paid attention to my commandments, your peace would have been like a river, your well being like the waves of the sea"

God tells us we are a fallen people, filled with evil and selfishness. Why should we expect special treatment? Why are we entitled?

He does love us, so much that He has given us a chance to be saved. And that is what this life is. It is a time of testing. Who will follow the Lord and who will rebel against Him. He is letting the weeds grow among the wheat until the time of harvest.
We are told we have already been ordained to die once. Do not expect an awesome never ending life, that was never once promised to us. That is not what this life is about.

If your friends bring that up to you, tell them that God has already told us that we are going to die in this life, and the point of it is not to have fun, but to come to Him before its too late. He is calling out His children before the end comes. That is the purpose of the time we are in.

Adam did it first in his way, Of course; people in this World are inherited his nature they're acting in the same way as Adam did it .KJV,Genesis3;11-12,11.And he said,Who told thee that thou was naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12.And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the three, and I did eat.

You can look at life two different ways.

First, you can believe the Lord is in control of everything. That way you can blame him for all of your discomfort, but it means we don't have free will.

Or, you can believe we all have a free will, which allows us to sin against one another and make each other miserable.

With the Lord, he actually is in total control, and we do have free will. However, we sin and create bad circumstances for ourselves sometimes. The Lord allows us to suffer so that we will learn from our mistakes.

I do blame God! I blame God for the rain and the sun, the lack of money to buy groceries and the money that came in that day to buy groceries, Hurricane Katrina flushing out a friend and people coming together across the country to give her a place to live and ultimately help her land right back into her favorite city New Orleans, and I blame God for wiping out nations after giving them 430 years to repent.

If it happens, it's God's fault. It's also for the good of his people, the bad of all others, and ultimately to show forth his glory.

So, what's not to blame?

It sure beats letting him off the hook, when he never was on the hook!
