This morning, I went to Macy's for a job interview that I have applied for as a Part-Time sales associate. I thought that the interview went well until the interviewer says, "I'm afraid that there's no part time sales associate positions available at this time". From there, I was shot down. I was so upset, you don't even know.

Next, I drove to the Molly Maid office to fill out an application since I already have sent a resume online. I thought that I was going to get an interview on the spot, but the lady says "This application will be placed on hold, and we will give you a call".

These two sentences in red is all I ever hear. Every single time I place my resume and fill out applications online since no one has paper applications anymore, most of the time I don't even get a phone call or an email inviting me to come in for an interview and if I'm even lucky, I get a phone call or an email once in a blue moon for an interview. Then as soon as I come in for an interview, I always make sure I look my best and I answer all questions to the best of my abilities, only to hear that"they'll call me back" or "I'll put your application on file and I'll give you a call if anything opens up", which is a total let down.

All of my friends are around my age, and they all have jobs/careers, buying their own cars, paying rent for their apartments or paying mortgages for their houses, and having financial freedom to buy whatever they want, even personal items, even my own relatives have jobs and can pay for whatever they want, and I can't do that. As bad as it is, I can't ask my father or other relatives for money because it's not cool to me.

Sometimes, I even wonder why I never get hired or called back to find out if I have the job or not. I still have school (1 more year, then I'll graduate in 2017) and I do work-study when school's in session. That's all good, but the money from work-study isn't good enough for me to help pay a bill or even pay 1/4 of the rent in my house.

Even though I live with my father, I hate seeing him having to be the only one working and paying for everything!!! I want to be able to say "Hey dad, I got this bill" and "I have my half of the rent"! But I want to buy my own personal items, my own clothes, shoes, heck, I even want to save up for a car!!! But how can I do that if no one is going to hire me???

*This is from my blog entry, but you are welcome to comment*

I'm in a similar situation. except my school loans got messed up and I have to pay a school off before I can go back. I have enough to live and have to remind myself that the world and its things are passing and if I set my affections on what I don't have and pine after the things others have.. I have just let the enemy distract me and let my feelings be hurt.... I hate when i get discontent. Jesus is enough or He's not.. My mentality.. I'm just sharing with you that you're not alone.. I could go into detail about my situation but its not for all to know.... You have hope and something to look forward to, don't rush it you may be being saved from something that would distract from your studies... Always keep in mind that God knows what we don't
Keep your head up.. God loves you and is for you

I have been in your shoes many times before. I know how it feels to get rejected at every turn it seems. However, God is bigger than any problem we will ever have to face. Pray to God to give you a financial break through. He wants us to succeed. The thing to bear in mind though is His timing is not the same as ours. He has a plan for you. Place your trust in Him and put your cares in His hands. He'll walk you through good times and bad.

Philippians 4:6-7 says

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything be in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Remember Jesus is always with you. He never leaves your side.

The best way to get a job is to network, network, network. The old axiom "It's not what you know but who you know" is 100% accurate -- especially in this difficult economy.

Put feelers out EVERYWHERE! Heck, you could even start your own business -- clean houses, run errands, help the elderly. Put flyers up EVERYWHERE -- at the grocery store, convenience shop, anywhere they allow you. Network with folks in your church -- make your skills known. Ask around if anybody knows anyone who's hiring.

Online apps (in my opinion), are a waste of time. They are impersonal, and it seems no one ever gets a response from them.

Thank you very much for your input. I truly appreciate it. It sucks that I don't have a job right now and it almost feels as if I'm unemployable and I don't know why. Once again, I truly appreciate your input.

Thank you very much for your input. I truly understand that God is bigger than every problem everyone faces through life. I'll try to pray and watch what happens.

I understand your frustration at getting to an interview and then being told there is no position, that is very unprofessional by the company ... but this:
Every single time I place my resume and fill out applications online since no one has paper applications anymore, most of the time I don't even get a phone call or an email inviting me to come in for an interview and if I'm even lucky, I get a phone call or an email once in a blue moon for an interview.

How man jobs have you applied for? Before my previous job, I applied for over 150 jobs in three months and I got three interviews. One of them was merely a "get to know you" interview for a agency hiring people for temp work. I am back in the same situation now: Hundreds of applications, no interviews. It's normal. Consider this: Maybe they get 50... 100 ... 200 ... 500 applications, and only interview 10 ... 5 ... 3 people

Here are some tips I am currently learning:

When applying for a job:
- Do research on the company: What do they do?
- In your application, show them how your skills are relevant, and what YOU can do for the company
- Don't start off with "I am a woman aged ---- living in " (they used to teach us to do that, don't know if they did in the US), this is in your CV / resume anyway, start off with how you found out about the job or company and then go straight to the bragging

:)
