Hey folks..

Hope you are well today

My 8 year old daughter is pestering me to get her ears pierced.. The old 'all my friends have it done' etc etc

I'm in 2 minds.. Is it wrong?

I got mine done at 9 but my parents weren't serving the Lord..

Thanks in advance xx

My daughter's is 8 and has her ears pierced....women in the Bible wear earrings, so why would it be wrong?

Sounds legalistic.

Ezekiel: 16. 12. And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. -

That is God talking to Jerusalem His bride.

As a mother of 5, I would suggest you pick your battles. This is not that important in the whole picture of growing up. She is just being a typical 8 year old.

But, do talk to her about it. Ask her why she likes the look? How would it make her feel? Etc. And without judging.

I agree with picking your battles. Eight seems a bit young but it's not worth denying since it's also not a sin. There should be some restrictions on what type of earrings. I certainly wouldn't have wanted my girls to have long dangly earrings at that age when they were out playing, climbing trees, etc.

Considering how cruel some kids can be when somebody doesn't have what they have, if my child was going to have to face taunting over something like not having pierced ears, I would see that as way more of a problem than the piercing itself.

If I was the parent, I'd say, "No."

I don't think there is anything unbiblical about it.

The question of maturity comes more to mind, will she sit still while it is done,
is she squeamish, will she look after the piercing, put up with her ears being
bathed. That is probably more of a consideration than anything at that age.

But you said 'my were pierced when I was nine..... But my parents weren't serving the lord'. That's the reason most are saying it's not unbiblical. You were the one the brought up the spiritual element. But then say it's a maturity issue. Seems to be a bit confusing as to what your real issue is with it.

Just wondering should a Christian mum let their kids do it.. And of course they would be little studs.. Not big things lol. Why does there often have to be heated words said on here.. Makes me sad :(
