Don't know if it's unusual....but Jackfruit chips are great....

Odd that a jackfruit when ripe can be tasting so sweet and delicious but when fried it becomes more of a french fry texture with less sweetness.

But watch out! A few chips can give you massive gas lol ;) not good to eat if your in company....

Rakfisk
Rakfisk: Norwegian fish dish made from trout or sometimes char, salted and fermented for two to three months, or even up to a year, then eaten without cooking.

Lutefisk

Lutefisk is a traditional dish of some Nordic countries. It is traditionally part of the Swedish julbord.
It is made from aged stockfish (air-dried whitefish) or dried/salted whitefish (klippfisk) and lye (lut). It is gelatinous in texture. Its name literally means "lye fish".

I've never tried either.

I've eaten salt-dried fish that was then fried to "reconstitute" if you will, and it tasted amazing. Aged salted fish is really tasty. Never tried fermented fish uncooked though....:)

By salt dried I mean more of a salt-curing like what's done with beef jerky.

I don't know how unusual this is, but I haven't seen it elsewhere:

Lefse
Lefse is a traditional soft Norwegian flatbread. It is made with leftover potatoes, flour, butter, and milk or cream. It is cooked on a griddle. Special tools are used to prepare lefse, including long wooden turning sticks and special rolling pins with deep grooves. (It's normally served with butter, sugar and cinnamon sprinkled between two layers)

Garbage plates.

Apparently, it is only a Rochester thing (which is locatedin NY)

Jimmy Kimmel brought up a place that's only 10 minutes away from me on his show and the whole city of Rochester rejoiced ;)

According to Urban Dictionary, a garbage plate is the following: "An awesome meal that consist of.. Home Fries, Hot Dog or Hamburger, Mac Salad, Baked Beans, Hot Sauce and LOADS OF KETCHUP"

However, I don't use ketchup. You can add more stuff to it, if it's available at the restaurant you order from. Typically, I get chicken fingers and hamburger, with home fries and mac and cheese. And the idea is to mix it ALL up to make it look like "garbage," hence the phrase, "garbage plate."

It's pretty good, although it sounds nasty.

You'll need a gas-x and lipitor afterward lol ;) That's is so much cholesterol....why does the good tasting food also have to be the ones that are really bad for you.....I love junk food....

Funny story: My sister said in Heaven we will worship God all the time...I told her that was not the only thing we do....she looked puzzled and I responded we also get to eat! To which she busted out laughing....afterall.....Jesus said in Revelation about a great banquet/feast and I've never heard of one without food ;)
In Heaven we can eat hamburgers without worrying about weight/cholesterol. woohoo!

I can't cook. I do love my Cheerios, chicken at El Pollo Loco, orange juice, and newly discovered Marie Callender's Beef and Broccoli frozen dinners.
