My mother came into my room when I was home sick from school one day and tossed a booklet, a box, and a belt on my bed. "You'll be needing these soon." That was all she said before she turned to leave the room. I was thirteen years old. I read Dickens, David Copperfield, at that time haha.

That was the extent of my home education on the matter. I was once given an assignment at school to watch a television show at home. I was allowed to listen while the show was on, but the screen was mysteriously blacked out, no visual. At one point, sperm were mentioned, I asked what it was. Both of my parents were in the room with me, but neither answered.
Ugh.

I determined to do things differently with my daughter. I started telling her about things to do with her body and sex as soon as she was old enough to understand the words I spoke. By the time she was approaching puberty, she had a lot of questions, and I answered them all as thoroughly as I could. She has lived a life so far removed from the way I lived mine, the difference is amazing considering how similar we are in some other ways.

My 4 year old daughter asked me how she got in mommies belly. I told her mommy and daddy loved each other so much, God put her there.

Thats what I will tell her until she is well into her 30s.
ah. so maybe my parents will finally tell me where babies came from? lol :D

Regrettably, this says a lot. And you know something? We have all made it to where Pastors have nowhere they can go either.

No sermon here... just a thought. I wonder if Pastors get to really have any deep friendships?
I guess what I really meant was that if the pastor were a woman I'd feel much more comfortable trying to ask these questions not that he wouldn't answer them.. but I'm too embarrassed to ask a man...

As I was typing my last response I had an aha moment... The church in St. Pete just got a new woman pastor and even though I will still be embarrassed I think I am going to make an appointment and go ask her some of these questions I have...

Yes, I know where babies come from I had one...

But there are certain things that I still have questions on that are they o.k. type questions or no, no?

How does the church handle this type subject etc.... Thank God I remembered she just started not that long ago at the church and I go to another church in Clearwater, but I will at least have a real live person to ask without totally being embarrassed....

He knows I have been wanting to ask a real person....God is good and eventually questions do get answered....

I learned everything from the internet. Not a great idea. I learned far more than I should and it's enough to last me a lifetime. xD Sigh, thank Jesus, grace exists and is free.

I was listening to a wonderful sermon by pastor Ricky Jones and thought I would share it.He deals with the topic of sex and shame very biblically yet compassionately.I think it is a very healing sermon and I hope its ok for me to share it here :

Give us a holler when you go. You will be less than two miles from our house at that location.

That passage from Mark that he reads, about three quarters of the way through,
is exactly where we were last Sunday, after spending about a year and a half in
the gospel of Mark! I hope we spend as much time in John :D Thanks, Mooky :)

If's it not all you said, I'll give you my address, you'll mail me ten.
Just kidding.
I am sure it will be a enjoyable and life altering read.

I meant that in all seriousness. If anyone spends their $10 on that book, and feels they were ripped off, I will send a $10 bill in an envelope to whatever address they designate. Even if they just thought it was only a "Ho-Hum" book.

Of course they will have to quote the words I ask about on a specific page of the book first to prove they really do have the book.

I hear professed Christians talking about (and posting here about) their fiancés that they seem to be living with, and about "hooking up", or "being together", or "dating"......... and the words certainly don't seem to have the mild connotations they used to carry.

Is it my overactive imagination, or are as many Christians engaging in pre-marital sex as is sounds like to me?
I wouldn't know the number, but there sure seems to be a lot more of it than there used to be. It used to be considered a bad thing. Now it seems to be "normal." Sad, isn't it?

I was so lonely after my husband left. One time after about 4 months from when he left he came over to see the kids. It was very bad whether out and it was dangerous driving and even some roads were closed. He slept over. Never again. First and last time. It was consensual, yet never again. Here's a blanket and pillow, go sleep in the car in the garage,
I was still lonely the next day. I would rather be lonely with Jesus then with my conscience.

I think that abstinence is beautiful. It indicates the fact that you have self control, and that your relationship means more than sex.

This morning I woke up and realized my five foot two 100 pound 11 year old Son squished between my Husband and me last night. I didn't even notice, he has stealth crawling into bed skills.
