Whether it's a psalm, hymn or sacred song, a childhood song, a mellow song, or a not so well known one ur not listening to at the moment but remembering for some reasons, please feel free to share. what is old for some is not really for others since we are of different ages, but feel free to post. i think this is a place where the younger folks can get to see what others listened to growing up at different times and places.
I'm thinking of Try to remember, but am posting another, Dahil sa'yo!

There is a catchy, really popular tune in the 60's (downtown) i was thinking if a parody could be done. i am no good at poetry, but if anybody has words to add/change, will u help?... the idea was to lead to the gospel, but i havent such poem writing skills. (i am really asking for help here.)

Cellphone
When ur alone and life is making u lonely u can always get
Cellphone,
When uv got worries, all the noise and the hurry
wouldnt help, I know, cellphone
Just listen to the music…
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can u lose?
The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all ur troubles, forget all ur care

So get, cellphone
Things will be great for u, cellphone,
No finer stuff for sure, cellphone,
Everything’s waiting for you.

Don’t hang around and let ur problems surround u
There are movie shows on cellphone.
Maybe u know some little sites to go to
And they never close,..
Just listen to the rhythm of a gentle bosa nova
You’ll be dancing w/ ‘em too before the night is over
Happy again
The lights are much brighter here,
You can forget all ur troubles, forget all ur cares

So get cellphone,
Where all the lights are bright, cellphone..
Waiting for u tonight, cellphone,
You’re gonna be alright now…

I put together this video for a song we used to sing in my youth group days back in the 1990's.

"Holy and Anointed One" - performed by Vineyard Music.

A very simple but beautiful song about Jesus, and one that always brings back good youth-group memories whenever I replay it.

I am forever grateful for having older sisters who were allowed to change the radio station from the mostly talk radio/current events/news shows of the CBC, to the stations that played pop music. One of the first pop songs I remember really liking is Down in the Boondocks, by Billy Joe Royal. What really strikes me about this song listening to it now, is how upbeat and happy it sounds for the subject matter of class division and unrequited love. It also surprises me that it is from 1965. I would have been ten that year, and I know the Beatles had already come on the scene by then and made a huge impression. In fact for sure we would have seen the movies "A Hard Day's Night" and also "Help" when they came out in 1964 and 1965 respectively... not to mention listening to all their their songs to date on the radio :D But when I look back to that time, even knowing the Beatles had seemed to me to be the vanguard of something big coming to my eight year old mind when I first saw them on the Ed Sullivan Show, it is always this song that is dredged up:

There is actually conflicting info as to whether it is from 1964 or 1965.

Oh, just pick one. Not much difference, especially if it was released December 31, 1964 or January 1, 1965 .

I have run into this problem recently in other subjects too, where one source will say one year and the next source will say a different year, usually very close but still, these are dates that are in my lifetime, you would think the records of such things would eliminate these discrepancies :p Hey I just discovered that he passed away October 6, 2015. Billy Joe Royal (April 3, 1942 – October 6, 2015) God rest his soul...

Yes ma'am, he did.

As for sources, you know what they say...don't believe everything you hear :).
