The thread would have no informative value. It would just allow people to pass points back and forth.

It would be pointless as rep points mean nothing really.
But assuming they did it would be dishonest. Rep should be earned and having a meaning behind it. Giving it out idly would make it hallow and meaningless. They are 'reputation' points.
Do you want to give out participation trophies too?

Its a good thing that you didn't post on a thread that gave rep points.

The first person to do so btw.

Like Ugs said...

Rep really means nothing.
...but when you rep someone, there should be a meaning behind it.........wait a minute?

Rep points do mean something to me. I only give them out for good, logical posts.

"Likes", on the other hand, seem to mean absolutely nothing on this forum. One long-time member even gives them to posts she seems to be against when she comments on them. I think a lot of people just use "likes" as a way of marking posts they have read. LOL

I think it says more about posts when I DON"T give them a "like."

I would not want to participate in such a thread but would not judge others for doing so. Personally, I give rep to what I believe is an outstanding post or a member who makes a valid point that I may believe in or to someone who takes a brave stand for or against something regardless of how hostile certain members may treat him or her. Occasionally, I may give rep to a member who has written worthwhile posts over a given period of time.

Some people treat this site like that already... I know some who just come on here so they can collect reputation points and likes for their own personal satisfaction, and they hardly ever say anything fruitful... I wouldn't say that it would be wrong to "boost" each other, but i think it would be best to just be solid 100% and earn them the legit way and be consistent..Quality over quantity.

What are rep points???

Are you just joshing or do you really not know? You have (at the moment) 108 rep points. That means that if you add to someones reputation they get 108 points. You get one more rep point to give others for every 100 points you get. So anyone you give rep points to will gain one more point to give others.

The star of David in the lower left part of the post window is what you click to give rep points.

The more rep points I give, the less rep points I have? Or does it stay the same?

it does not matter how much you give. The number of reps you have are not effected by how much you give out

The more rep points you get the more you can give to others. You can't lose rep points.

So to get LOADSSSSSSS of rep points, you have to be repped by users with TONS of rep points
