Saw this and it's absolutely true. I haven't bought a woman's magazine for
ages, but I wondered if the same applies to men's magazines as well.

How much are you influenced by glossy magazines.

Never read them ,though they stick them in your face at the check out. Besides the beauty angle if you glance at the covers they have 1273833 ways to please your man. Nothing about how he can please you. So apparently not only do you have to be a beauty queen you have to be a sex maniac besides. Ridiculous trash IMO I dont even bother with People magazine. Most self centered people on the planet.

I think most people realise the models are air brushed, tweaked, colours shading
added etc. But many people still aspire to be like those models, it's sad that
people get taken in by this Christian and non Christians alike.

Young women / girls especially can be vulnerable, I wondered if the same applied
with men's mags too.

Maybe we should have a real bodies/fashion magazine but it wouldn't sell.
People aren't satisfied with being them selves.

Anything written in such a manner that the length of an article is proportional to the length of time it would take to read while taking the average poop should be avoided. Except Reader's Digest. Reader's Digest is good bathroom reading.

A slightly-irrelevant (or irreverant) comment on women's magazines... I recall from a previous life, waiting for my then-wife to try on some attire in a boutique. I sat and waited in the nearby chair, and glanced at the covers of the magazines there. All were women's mags. I wondered why there were no men's mags, which would make sense, because I would guess that any woman waiting would be looking for something for herself or for her companion. Perhaps I'm wrong though. Thoughts?

I've done my share of waiting during my married life so I know what you're saying. This is reminiscent of my failed first marriage...

"You're trying to make your mark in society
Using all the tricks that you used on me
You're reading all those high fashion magazines
The clothes you're wearing girl
Are causing public scenes..."

I can honestly say I have never bought a woman's magazine :p

I did buy a recipe magazine once because it had cheesecake recipes.

That would have been about thirty years ago and I still have that magazine
and I still make the cheesecake that I bought the magazine for, though I
have modified the recipe considerably. The original template for my white
chocolate raspberry cheesecake came from that magazine :)

WhChocRasp.jpg

I do not put berries in the cake, and the top of my cake is completely
covered in berries, and then I add a topping on top of the berries of sour
cream sweetened with dark organic chocolate. It is a wonderful topping
that can be used on any cake and nobody would guess it was sour cream :D
Also, I never use graham crackers for my cheesecake base, but shortbread
cookies and chocolate wafers combined, completely crumbled with butter
added and baked separately at the beginning, of course. I might shove things
like cashews all around the outside of the cake. Of course eating such
things would never be recommended in any women's magazine, LOLOLOL
