Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I have a question. What are rep points? In my settings it says this.
[h=2]Latest Reputation Received (434 point(s) total)[/h]
And under that it shows three people who gave me nice compliments and a certain amount of rep points.

Just curious what that means.

It should show 4 people now. ;)

It's just a more sincere form of "like." You don't eventually get a lollipop or a smiley face for it, or anything. LOL

IMO,the rep system was suppose to show a members reputation, where they stand In the community based on how consistant they were at giving excellent post but I see members on here with 11 Icons and reputation powers of 50 and they joined In 2014 with less than 5000 post.lol

it is similar to "like"'s , only they accumulate to "rep power" (based on some mysterious rules that I cannot keep track of, but it affects your ability to give rep to others) , and they can be given anonymously.

It means that they enjoyed your post and feel it's worthy of being given a rep. For every 100 rep points gotten, you gain a power. If someone reps you, you gain as many points as they have in rep powers. For example, if wwjd_kilden repped you, you would gain 98 points, because she has 98 powers.. :) And you can give rep to others, and they will get as many points that you have in powers. Currently, you have no rep powers, so your rep comment would not raise anyone's powers up. Once you reach 50 posts, you get 1 power. It increases after that, and each increase is different for everyone. And for each year that you are with the site, you gain 1 rep comment/power.

Interesting. That is the very first comprehensive explanation of the Rep System that I have ever heard from anyone. Thank you.

Thanks everyone for explaining. Thanks CharlieGrown for adding to the total! And thanks blue_ladybug for a thorough explanation. :)

So that leads to another question. When I'm able to give rep points how would I go about doing that?

Right beside "Blog this Post" at the bottom left of every post is a little star.
If you click that, a message box opens up where you can leave a message.
You can rep with no message also. When you click "Add to Reputation", the
message box closes and you are thanked for adding to the person's reputation :)

Most people like to know who to thank for their rep comments, so I always put my name. :)

IDK. I get a bill in the mail every time someone reps me, but doesn't leave their name. And, if they do leave their name, I get useless junk mail.

Now I'm wondering what is normal.
:p
