Does anybody here have experience in a UK university and could give me advice on the 5 places I can apply for?

I am currently studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business and my predicted grade is D*D*D.

My GCSE's aren't brilliant, 7 or 8C grades, including maths, english, science and additional science.

I am stuck at the minute, I know I would like to study some form of Management or Business Management at uni, but don't know what unis to apply for. Time is ticking and my tutor wants all to be finished by the end of term on the 16th of this month.

I have been to open days and looked at uni rankings, so far I am thinking, York, Hull and Northumbria. But defo York and Hull. But I don't really know who else to apply for. I prefer city campus, the ones I've been considering are Aston, University of Liverpool, University of Leicester and Heriot-Watt.

I originally considered Surrey, UCL and Kent, but seeing how far away they are, how expensive those areas are not to go for them.

What universities would you suggest I choose and apply for? and why?

Thank you to anyone for their advice.

I don't know of any UK universities except for Oxford. (Is that a university?) I recommend Oxford.

Are you able to tour some local universities? Perhaps getting a feel in person will help guide your decision making. Good luck!

Wow! I thought it would be easier now than the olden days when I was looking. (I just took the list of all state colleges in my state, and wrote them letters asking for info and brochures. lol) Can't you google "Management, University," and then include your local region? Here I would just google all higher education campuses and then add how many miles away to get a list of all of them. Then I would cross reference which ones fit management and/or business.

Also, are British campuses known for partying? I'm not asking for the same reason most would ask, but I know that even in the ritzy areas, right around our campuses rents are low. People don't want to live in an area where students party all weekend. So, if campuses are considered party-central, check around the local area from them, because even in a rich area, there are pockets of cheap housing.

I often tell people who can't afford the usual price for rent in the US to look for rent near campuses.

It is. And you probably recognize another name -- Cambridge. But that's like recommending Harvard or Princeton. The student has to be rich and with near perfect grades to get in those.

I have. I just worry with rankings and you have so many people saying "that's a crap university" and some people taking the mic out of some universities just because of their low-average ranking. So then that makes me worry and apply to better universities... but then the best are all in the South of England, either in London or next to it, like Surrey or Kent. Which are all VERY far from where I live, over 6 hours drive away, and they are expensive areas to live in. Even with loans and grants, I wouldn't get enough for London and the surrounding rich areas.

There are probably cheap areas to rent even in rich areas? I know for a fact I wouldn't have enough for London, cos the max loan and grant I'd get (coming from Wales) is just under 9 grand, while even people like Martin Lewis money show, etc. these budget experts say you need at least £10,500 to be able to live there as a student. But if there are cheap areas to rent in Surrey it might be an option. It isn't as expensive as London but it's still a rich place to live in.
