Yesterday a FedEx Envelope came and inside was a WOW Blessing. An unsung hero who had listened to God's prompting set out to send a blessing to us which was needed after a year of ups and downs, (5 months of downs), a big financial blessing. It was a gift card to our Publix for $200.00.

I recall another time when I was in my 30's and my daughter, Melisa was around 6 that we had financially struggled and Christmas was coming I had managed to squirrel away a couple of toys but we had to move and it just drained the money I had and Christmas was going to be pretty bleak and so not having money for a tree or any more presents I brought home computer paper which I was going to tape to the wall and we were going to draw a tree and decorate it with crayons. A neighbor lady saw what we were doing and bought a two foot tree that was already decorated and gave it to us. I was so happy I felt like crying..

Same year a lady at work knew our situation and she took me aside and said Darlene my husband is part of a club and they pick a few families that are working but have financial difficulties and they give money to help get clothes for the children at Christmas and we have picked you and your daughter to be one of the families I'd like to take you shopping for her and the allowance is $250.00 for clothes. Again I felt like crying I was so happy because what was going to be one of the worst Christmas's was turning out to be the best Christmas ever. So we went shopping and I got some larger clothes that even fit her three years later summer and winter with that large amount of money.

So to the unsung hero's that listen to God's voice and bless us in times of need. Thank You! Thanks for paying attention and obeying the call of God's voice to help when you see a need. It is truly a blessing and from my own experience it helps me to be encouraged and want to pay it forward when I am able to do so and over the years I have also listened to God's voice and gave a blessing... It is one of the reasons I ended up with my husband Tourist...

He had mentioned that he had left his Bible in Maine after his wife had died and he left to move back to Florida... God prompted me to mail him a Bible as I had so many around my home...had no idea that doing that would help me end up with a husband, but again glad I listened to God's prompting.

When we listen to God it is a blessing not only to us but also a blessing to those we help.

So I invite you to post a blessing you have received or given as it is also a good way to Praise God from whom all blessings flow....

Another time my Torino broke down and I had to have a car to get to work and take my daughter to child care and the repair was costly and would take a while to get fixed. I didn't know what I was going to do, but a co-worker named Carol stepped in and let me borrow a car that her sons normally used to get around in. She let me have it for a month while I accumulated the money and could afford the repair on my car.

I truly have been blessed by God and friends who have stepped up to lend a helping hand or in this case a car... Again Praising God.

the things people have done for us...
it all bleeds together in my memory to one big

thank You, God ! ♥

i recall a time, visiting my sister in PA, when she held a Tupperware party for a friend who was in financial need.
she slipped a bunch of money into the woman's handbag before she left.
the next day, this lady called, horrified, and said she must have miscounted what people bought because there was so much more cash in her bag than there should have been.
Carol responded, i'll let you know if anyone reports missing money; otherwise you should assume it's yours.

i mean, she did it without lying! i love my sister. :)

My Aunt Lois asked me one time.... Are you mad at your cousin, Deanna? I said no, why? Well you bought her groceries that one time and I thought maybe you were mad she didn't pay you back.

I laughed and said - I didn't expect her to pay me back and that has been so long ago I forgot I even did it. Why in the world would I be mad at her over something like that?

I am the type of person that if I willingly do something I don't expect something in return as aren't we here to be a blessing to those around us? I thought that was part of the job description at the very least a decent human being.

Hubby is Polish through his father, but he never knew his father so the Polish thing was just a name. Then we got a Polish cookbook and discovered all the Polish food. We also learned a traditional Polish Christmas Eve dinner was supposed to be 12 courses, including pike. (For those who don't know, pike is a freshwater fish. Also, something you can't buy in the store.) As it happened, we were up in Canada that summer and caught a couple of pike. (BIG fish too. We caught the smallest you can keep, and it was only four pounds. Of course we would have kept bigger ones, but we only caught the smaller ones. lol) Most of the food was perogies, and pierogies are an all-night project, but we decided to make a big traditional meal to take up to hubby's brother's house -- the only other Polish member of his family. So we spent the end of November and most of December making this meal big enough for ten people, and with plans on everyone having something to take home with them.

At that time, hubby was an HVAC mechanic, and his company was paid by Camden County (NJ) to install a heater into this "old couple's" house. (Excuse me, while I choke here. All these years I've been thinking they were an "old couple," and just now I realize they were younger than we are now. They were only in their 50's! lol)

It's cold around here in November, yet this "old" Polish couple had been stuck for weeks with no heat. The man, John, (how could I forget that name) had worked in the meat department of a grocery store, was unloading the truck one night, slipped and fell onto the meat hook. It went clear through his hip. New Jersey hasn't updated their workman's comp since it was first introduced in the 1930's, so workman's comp gave John $2000 to live the rest of his life with just one hip.

Nothing was left of their belongings but exactly what they needed -- a sofa, a cheap kitchenette table with two chairs, A used old TV, and a mattress in a big house that was, thankfully, paid off before the accident. And, they were living on $500-$600 a month from SSDI. They were crying they were so happy to get a heater.

I've been complaining about not finding a Christmas tree. They had none, and didn't plan on celebrating with anything bigger than maybe some Campbell's turkey soup for Christmas.

Hubby and I were middle-class back then, so we conspired. We bought them a tree, the trimmings for the tree, some gifts wrapped to put under the tree (with strict instructions they had to wait until Christmas), and the proper Polish Christmas Eve dinner. (We were learning what it was to be Polish. They grew up with it, so knew. They even knew pike. lol) We put up the tree, because they were so flabbergasted, they couldn't do much but sit on their sofa asking us questions like, "For real? Which organization is doing this for us?" And John kept hugging his wife because she was falling apart crying.

Most of the gifts were clothes, but some things you just don't buy for other people, so one gift was a wad of cash. After all these years, I don't remember how much. I just remember it was all in small bills stuck in a box that looked like it should have a watch in it. lol

No one got extras at our family feast, but, as we usually do, we made too much so John and his wife would have leftovers for Christmas. (We made 7 kinds of pierogies and each batch had 144 in it, so really -- too, too much. lol)

We were given much more that year than we ever gave. John and his wife taught us about other Polish food we would never have heard of. (I still can't talk myself into eating blood sausage.)

Loved your story Lynn.... My daughter, Melisa got to try blood sausage in Sweden when she went with her ex-boyfriend and she said he was waiting on her to hate it but she liked it and asked for more...spoiled the boyfriends ability of making fun of her for not liking it...lol

I was traveling from Louisville, KY to Lawton, OK with most of my belongings in a Mustang and a kitten. I had been driving all day and was in Oklahoma but still had some miles to travel and it was after dark I was so very tired.

As I pulled into a truck stop to get some gas the attendant said lady you look like you could use a cup of coffee and I said what I'd really like is about two hours of sleep but I don't want to pay for a hotel room. He spotted my sleeping bag and said grab your bag and come with me. So I did.... I'm about 23/24 years old I parked the car grabbed the bag and he took me to his storage room and said floors hard but it is yours as long as you want it how long would you like to sleep?

I told him however many hours I decided and then he turned the lights out and left. You would think I wouldn't be able to sleep but I did and sure enough after a while he came and woke me up and gave me the best cup of coffee I'd ever tasted... then sent me on my way.... Praise God for kind people.....

Another time I was trying to mow my yard in St. Petersburg, FL and the mower was old. I didn't want to buy a new one because I wanted to sell the house and move to a condo so I would not be needing it and didn't want to waste money buying another mower.... Being old it was a pain to start and it was a pull cord.... So I would always pray...Please Lord let it start, repeatedly and I'd jimmy the spark plug and do this and that all the while praying and most times it would start.

On this particular day I go through the routine....Pull, pull, pulling the cord with no results. The prayer is said over and over... I am getting desperate..... I see a car drive by brake lights come on they turn around and come to my driveway. A guy gets out and asks if I need help and Yes, I do.... He messes with the mower and gives it a yank and sure enough it starts...

Again praising God..... never did buy a new mower....a lady came along asking for work and I said I'd pay her $10.00 to mow my yard until I moved and when I moved I would give her the mower even though it needed work she gladly accepted the job and I gave her the mower before I left.... Win - Win and I could put my efforts into packing and getting ready to move without having the extra work of mowing.....God is so good.

our driveway is long, dirt and stone.... one long hill. and my daughter's Nissan, though a nice car, is terrible in bad weather.

i was moving it to make shoveling easier a few years ago, and it started to slide off the driveway.

Mark and i were trying to push it back onto the drive, but it was too much car for the two of us that icy, snowy day. suddenly we noticed a man smiling at us, asking if he could help. our newest neighbor, Bob, had heard the trouble, bundled up and walked to the house.

he said, little lady, you get behind the wheel and leave it to us. and that's how we met neighbor Bob. :)

God knew we needed help, and even in the small things, He provides. :)

I love a good story - When I was a kid I remember loving to go to Camp Meeting that our church held every year As it meant living in a tent for a week to 10 days and getting together with friends you might not have seen in a long time and there was such a good children's program and a lady named Judy Socal who could tell the best stories - she would have you sitting on the edge of your seat and just about when you'd get to the good part she would say.... to be continued..... You boys and girls be sure to come back tomorrow night and hear the rest of the story...

We couldn't wait until the next night.... loved hearing her tell stories.....

I was in a grocery store many years ago - a Winn Dixie to be exact and I checked my wallet and I remember saying to myself O-N-E....as I looked at a dollar bill checking the money I had....

Well got the groceries and it was a little more than I thought so I went to get the money and there was a Ten dollar bill...now I was confused because I remember spelling one.... and didn't have a ten the first time I had looked....

I always wondered if God had me do that at the beginning of my shopping just so He could show me He has power to do anything because it was a one I tell ya but a ten when I needed it....praising God at the time of shopping and now when I remember it still confused as to how did that happen?

it's the first time I've heard of Jesus riding in our wallets, but He is The O-N-E,
and He was probably just reminding you of what you already knew, He's definitely a T-E-N!:)

Our car needed a new starter. <--information I didn't know until four batteries died on us, while auto mechanics kept telling us the battery was bad.

One of those stories.

Christmas season. John was still dealing with the aftermath of chemotherapy, but we needed groceries, and I had an eye doctor appointment at a WalMart. (Thought that would be the cheapest way to get glasses. NEVER believe Walmart has cheap eye doctors or glasses.) I went shopping first, because it was 30 degrees out, so my groceries weren't going to go bad in the trunk. (I actually put the produce in the freezer bag so they wouldn't freeze.) AND, it was Friday night rush hour in Philadelphia when I was coming home.

Oh! And the weather said absolutely nothing about a snow squall hitting South Philly right then.

Windshield wipers slapping, defroster kicking it, lights on, Christmas music blasting, and the lights on the dashboard started fading. Only the Christmas music could stop. One mile to my house.

Half a mile to go when I hit Broad Street. Even if you don't know Philly, if you're a long time hockey fan, you might remember "The Broad Street Bullies." It's the big street you drive on to get to any one of our stadiums or our concert hall. Broad Street is also that street you're looking at if you ever see a photo of our City Hall. One of three streets in the city itself you don't want to breakdown on. (Not counting highways.)

And, sure enough, the street I was on when the car completely died. Completely! Oh, and in the left lane, because my turnoff is on the left. I'm three blocks from my home, and a block in the city is an eighth of a mile. THAT close!)

Did I mention the blizzard? (Okay, technically a squall, but no one could see past a car length.) Did I mention eye doctors? Yup, I was wearing those funky sunglasses over my real glasses. Bright white right after having my eyes dilated. Embarrassing, but necessary. Did I mention rush hour?

That was a good thing. Any other time, and people are doing 40 mph in that 25 mph road, but traffic was inching, so people could see my car.

And this is where the heroes came storming. And all this within five minutes.

1. Guy comes around (slowly), and yells at me to put on my blinkers. I tell him my battery is dead. His expression changes, and he stops his car (because it is inching along still), to tell me to open up the trunk. Brilliant! Good signal besides middle-aged woman flapping her arms on the medium strip.

2. Next person. "Want us to call the cops?" Thank you, please!

3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, all people telling me they'll call the cops for me. (And this is why hubby makes me carry a cell phone that I don't know how to work unless I read the directions. lol)

9. Two girls ask if I want to call anyone. They have to dial for me, of course, and I'm still thinking it cost $.50 a minute for cell phones, so I just call home to tell John where I'm stuck. Not one of my brighter moments. He heard the answering machine, but didn't know if I was asking for him to come and get me. And, he can't. I mean he could, but we only have one car, so what's he going to do? Walk down to walk me home?

And, right after I hand them back their phone...

10 and 11 come along. Two cop cars come off the exit ramp across the street. (That means they have to go down Broad to come back up, but with lights on, they're pretty fast.)

Two more kids. (Hey, when you're in your 50's and the cops are only in their 20's, they're kids. lol) Their duty is to get my car off Broad St. Not the same thing as taking me home. Matter of fact, they can't take me home without special permission. So first cop car is my siren to warn people I'm-a-coming-duck! And the second pushes my car. We even went through a red light. And I parked exactly where I wanted to park. One block from my car mechanic. (The guy who is about to tell me it has to have been a bad battery he gave me a few months earlier, so all I have to do is pay for the labor. Battery is free.) My (old) mechanic is only one block from my house, so this is just another block, but the other way. He was walking no matter where that car landed.

And, when the cops found out I had a trunk load of groceries too, they told me they couldn't help me without permission, but hold on.

A minute later, and I got both -- my first ride in the back of a cop car. (Did you know they replaced regular back seats with a plastic lump -- guaranteed to be uncomfortable to criminals, but also the easiest way to clean off pee, poop, and vomit. lol) AND they packed my groceries into the trunk.

They really couldn't deliver the groceries inside, (nor would I want them to), but they put them on the sidewalk across the street from my house, just in time for hubby to come out the front door.

12. John was going to walk down to help me bring home the groceries. lol

I wrote a thank you note to the police commissioner so he could tell the cops how grateful I was.

So much for tough hearted Philadelphians.
