So singers often get alot of attention, being the voice of a song and all, people generally relate to them in some way. But the people playing the music itself should get some attention, too. This thread is about instrumentalists you like.

They can sing, too. But this is meant to be about people who play instruments, so keep the focus on them and the instrument they play, and why you like them : p

At first, I was gonna make this about one instrument, with the idea that others can make a thread on whatever instrument they wanted to. But then I realized it made more sense to just make the thread about instrumentalists in general, so that anyone can respond : p

So I play melodic bass guitar, and am a huge fan of people who write music on bass guitar too. The first bass guitarist to get me excited about writing music on bass guitar was Peter Hook of Joy Division. I heard their song Love Will Tear Us Apart and it made me want to actually BE a bass guitarist : p Hes not my favorite, though.

A few years back I found a band with an amazing bass guitarist called Pinback. The music focuses on bass guitar, with the majority of the music being done on bass guitar. The bassist does alot of chord work on his bass, and provides his own harmonies, using his picking hand as well as his fretting hand at the same time to play both on the low end and high end of the bass guitar, making it sound as if hes playing two instruments at once. Hes way talented with the bass guitar : p

His name is Armistead Burwell Smith, he plays in multiple bands. Hes a song from one of his other bands-

Anyways, who are your favorite instrumentalists? : p

Lindsey Stirling!!!!!!
Hahaha
I just think she's a wonderful role model for people, and she never forgot why or what got her to the place she is now.
And, she's extremely talented. I don't know if any of yall have tried to play violin while dancing but it's not super easy lol.

Gavi (Lindsey's pianist) he passed from cancer, but I think he was everyone's favorite pianist. He was such a kind hearted person and was genuinely loving, and expressed all of that and more through his playing.

Yurima (I think that's his name)
A wonderful pianist, I don't know if he composes his music as well, but he is very talented.

Michelle Edwards;
She's my friend I have to like her xD haha
Kidding, she is an AMAZING violinist, and has been called the greatest violinist in history. I don't know anything she can't do.

Yes, anybody can sing, but being a good guitarist is really difficult. I've been playing guitar since I was really young, and still can't figure out how the good ones do it.

Charlie Daniels isn't an instrumentalist necessarily but his fiddle playing is the best I have heard. I used to play the violin so I know talented he is.

I actually know who that is : p I have some friends who were into her a few years ago, cuz they played violin and liked the legend of zelda games : p

And I looked up your friend on youtube, watched the first video that came up (michelle edwards violin2011) Shes definitely really good. You two are friends, though?

Yeah? I have picked up guitar too, and the basics felt easy for me. I mean like just playing open and barre chords. I had played bass guitar for a few years beforehand, though. I always kinda felt like guitarists make guitar sound like its harder than it really is, though. Have always been kinda suspicious of that : p
Youre probly better than I am at it, though : p

The ultimate instrumentalists. (Only the brave should watch this.)
Well that looked unpleasant : p You couldnt pay me enough to do that, haha.

I kinda regret the song I posted above btw, its a good song but dont feel like it really shows off his bass playing as well as it could have. (was in a rush to finish the post to get to work on time : p) There are other songs I could have posted instead, but heres a 20 second video of him playing a really pretty melody live instead-

(for those who are too lazy for a whole song : p)

Yes, she's my Nana's violin teacher and we've hung out quite a bit.
She's a very sweet lady
She has a super old violin, it's not able to be played but it is very cool!!!

I prefer songs than music, but some instrumentals have moved me through the years. (I have no idea if anyone under 40 will any of these.)

Classical guitarist - Andres Segovia
Jazz Flugelhorn - Chuck Mangione (Also the uncle of my roommate in college's sister, although I never got to meet him personally)
Blues guitarist -- B.B. King, although honestly? Hubby is going to be shocked. I just like the way his guitar is his other-voice.
Rock drummer -- Ron Bushy, (I can copy his drums, but that's all it is -- copying.)
Rock violinist -- Pappy John Creach
Psychedelic bass - Jack Bruce
Blues harmonica - John Mayall
bluegrass autoharp -- June Carter

And although it's not an instrumental, I still think this is should be voted Best Use of a Sousephone in a Rock Song. The Night They Tore Old Dixie Down.

If you listened to Joy Division you probably seened The Smiths on the side recommended videos. I like Johnny Marr he's my fave so far. Let me know if you liked them.
Haha, oh yeah I was a big Smith's fan a few years back : p I like every member of that band too, they were all really good at what they played, the singer too. In fact Morrissey is one of my favorite singers.

This is my all time favorite song by them

I always loved that bassline, in fact I learned how to play it in my early days of bass guitar : p I should try to relearn it and see if I can still play it, haha.

Oh yeah I watched a live video of Cream with my mom a few months ago, and was really impressed by the bassist. I like him, too. I should look up more videos of him.

Id like to get a fretless bass one day. Not his, though. Too deep for my playing style : p
