That and, historically speaking, I think the wise use of images had a largely negative impact on Church life.
Interesting what is your take on the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci . Or other famous Christian art work . It's a historic work and has had a influence on our culture, atleast in the some circles. I have dislike for statuses in church buildings due to the second commandment, but have not given much thought about other images .

I like crosses.

I find it weird when a church doesn't have a cross anywhere.

That's how I picked the very first church I went to. I liked the name and they had a nice big cross out front. Church of the Good Shepherd.

I didn't know about all the different denominations back then. That first church was a Lutheran church. Its the only church I've been to since that had real home made bread and real red wine for communion.

I never would have left that church but my kids were falling asleep during the service.

I don't really like the crosses that show Jesus still being crucified on them. He is Risen.

2CV is popular shorthand for "2nd Commandment Violation"
Lutherans don't have a 2nd commandment saying anything about graven images. The 2nd commandment says: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

Lutherans split the commandments differently :) (Since scripture doesn't number them for us). I am familiar with both, since my mom was raised Lutheran.

I'd argue that purely artistic renderings are another story entirely.

As for use in worship, I was thinking mainly of the Roman Catholic Church. Icons have a way of orienting that worship in the direction of the vision crafted by the artist and commissioned by the authority

Des invited a baby dipper
When waterboarding was outlawed
Now Presbys are really chipper
And their doctrine's not that flawed

A Reformed Christian
Trump is not
He leaves his bible
Somewhere to rot

But I vex not of the maybes
He'll baptize foreign foes
And I hope their babies
Presbys keep ya on yo toes

If Trump's a Christian
I have much to doubt
But when it comes to theology
Presbys leave with a pout

I don't much in this world dread
But maybe the 2nd coming of Attila the Hun
Or quite possibly
A drunk Presby with a gun

WORD!!!

You call us all brigands
You call us all barbarians
And when debate has begun
Baptists go sectarian

Some would say its discipline
God has yet to use His rod
But I argue something else
The Baptist has no Synod

Synod

The word "synod" is thought to be derived from a primitive root in Early Middle Bhutanese which means:
"A group of men with no yaks."

The Presbys are full of yaks.

Their favorite song is 'Yakkity Yak.' That's their communion song. It follows 'Roll out the Barrell.'

At 38 Seconds... Beautiful woman riding water buffalo.

Haunting Lyrics Translated from Mongolian:

(chorus)
Presbyterians have no yaks.
They have no yaks.
No no no yaks.

(verse)
Presbies have a lack of yaks.
No packs of yaks.
No stacks of yaks.

Presbies have no love for yaks.
They shove my yaks...
Sick of my yaks.

(chorus)
Presbyterians have no yaks.
They have no yaks.
No no no yaks.

(verse)
I'm a Baptist, I have yaks.
Eye my yaks.
Come nigh my yaks.

I'm a Baptist, smell my yaks.
Come tell my yaks,
"You're swell my yaks."

(chorus)
Presbyterians have no yaks.
They have no yaks.
No no no yaks.
No no no yaks.
No no no yaks.

Well... Hm. Uh... Ya. So...

Thanks for branching away from the limericks and mixing it up with music and video. Interesting selection. Wonder how many other yak videos you had to choose from. Oh, the fun!

You just never know what's gonna happen when you hop into this thread. But I like it like that.

He nailed it. But that is for the end of the service.

After the doxology we sing this in remembrance of Genghis Khan and Jesus.

Don't ask.

I like to think of it as a Swiss ski chalet stuck in the 1960's, somewhere outside Gstaad.
