Introvert doesn't mean "shy." It means we re-energize from solitude. (We're doing it now!) Extroverts re-energize from people. We're just not that.

(Also why you'll find many introverts online, but not many extroverts. We're not anti-social. We simply get no benefits from social situations, and it depletes us the longer we're in them, because we have to try so hard. The opposite is true for extroverts. They get depleted without others around, and they have to try to be alone.)
Very well said. Except that you mentioned your username too many times. Lol!

I know someone who seem to underestimate introverts. She interrupts when you talk. She like to dominate the conversation. But I just try to understand her, she is an extrovert who does not get what an introvert is like and besides, there are also times when she tries to listen. I can see that she dislikes her own teenage daughter being an introvert. I tell her not to force her to become more sociable because she might hate herself thinking there is something wrong with her. Her daughter feels the pressure of this noisy world, she purposely cuts herself with a razor to feel through the numbness. And my extrovert friend also expects too much from her introvert husband that's why they always fight. Life is hard for quiet people who live in a world that cannot keep quiet.

Actually...I've known several extroverts who are shy. The chant in the introvert camp is "just because I'm an introvert doesn't mean I hate people." The same applies to extroverts. "Just because I'm an extrovert doesn't mean I like (being with) people." it is a recharge, but somewhat painful because they're shy. Super rare? Probably. I can think of 3, and 2 of them are from the same family.

As an introvert I've actually found that the best way to interact with people is to forget ME. If I am focused on what would make them comfortable, it is easier. Of course, I have to deal with exhaustion the next day, but... Many people who don't know me well have even assumed that I'm an extrovert, because I am very outgoing. (If they only knew how my reserved, introverted, wallflower self was dying inside!)

How would you suggest? Net, lasso, or sleeping darts?

I had an aunt who was a shy extrovert. She was retarded. (Not being offensive. That was the word of her era, and the word she used for herself.) When strangers came, she'd get awkward and quiet. But when it was friends or family, she got bossy and loud. Strangers wouldn't hear her because they knew something was off about her. So she faded into the woodwork. But there was no way of not getting her take on any issue if she was around people who knew her. And the bigger the crowd, the better. She'd try for every conversation looking for a way of inputting.

I still have one visual I will never lose. The only time I ever saw Mom fight -- physically fight. My aunt was her sister and they were windmill slpping each other and trying to take air, while both were yelling, "Se started it." They were in their 30's, and I was smackgobbed shocked, and then laughed when I herd PopPop shouted from the other room, "I don't care who started. Knock it off or I'll finish it." It worked just as well as Mom saying that to us. lol

I can come off as an introvert because I'm, oddly enough, a listening addict. I also consider my words carefully...most of the time.

But I'm with a small group of people for a short time, they're advised to strap themselves in.

Sadly, "The Catalyst" was not enough to do it. That plane never got off the runway. I think a little heat would have helped to move things along. Soon afterwards some extrovert came along and swept her off her feet! Ha! Extroverts!
