But I think a mile west or north and we could have used rifles.

Plus, it was my first time hunting deer from a stand. It was kind of weird. But I was with my daughter so it was fun. I'm hoping to take her to Montana to show her how we REALLY do it.
lol. We had a guy from Wyoming come out and hunt with us. He thought the whole thing was pretty weird . Do you hunt whitetails or mule deer in Montana?

Pay it no mind. People from Wyoming are all about half a bubble off of plumb. 2 cans short of a six-pack. Not playing with a full deck. Not running on all 8 cylinders.

I don't own any guns, mainly because they're too expensive.

Since we are off topic anyway, do you think we will ever get back to the good old days with 22 rimfire being widely available?

The shooting sports game can be entered by those on a lower budget.
The blackpowder sports, muzzleloader clubs and rendezvous can be a lot of fun and economical.

    I like to think so.

I see Natchez has CCI standard velocity available by the case, hadn't seen that for a while.
Have seen Federal American Eagle as well by the case, it has been a long time for that as well.
We have lost about 8 years of young shooters with the unavailability of rimfire under the muslim Kenyan.

No question you have to make room for them on a budget.

We have lots of 22 ammo available around here... cheapest I've bought lately was Winchester XX at $7 per 100...

So! Anybody really dig internet gun personalities?

I love iraqveteran8888. They are not into the flashy videos or tactitard logic. Just overall good advice.

Colion Noir frick'n rocks. I want to be him.

Hickock 45 is the gun enthusiast grandfather I've never had.

Nutnfancy is that half-crazed uncle you listen to because in your heart you know he's right albeit brooding and maybe too gear obsessed.

I once went to a gaming arena, where there was a shooting corner with air guns. There were 10 consecutive glass bottles in a horizontal line placed equidistant apart that one would have to shoot with 10 pellets.

You could buy more if you had to, but if you shot all 10 bottles with 10 pellets, there was a small monetary prize offered.

I remember shooting all 10 with the 10 pellets and getting the prize.

I realized for the entire time that I was shooting, everyone had stopped playing and had stood to watch me. Also there were a few guys lounging and playing pool nearby. One of the guys just had their jaw open. (they may have tried the shooting deal)
That was kind of unnerving and funny.

I used to have a lot of fun playing paintball and trying my hand at archery. I want to try one of those shooting ranges in the USA, where people use actual armed rifles. I am sure it's not the same as an air gun but I would like to see if I would be good at it.

The fundamentals are similar. Sight alignment, trigger control, etc. The real hurdle for most people is the simultaneous sound and jerk of the gun.

The .22 is an overall solid round to start out with, because the kick is negligible. If you really want to prove yourself the first time out, step up to 9mm for pistol and 5.56 for rifle. Most people don't try anything beyond those on day 1 though.
