I don't think I have... perhaps some 9mm? I honestly don't remember. Have you googled to see what kind of powder they use?

I had some Scot powder that had an odd smell to it... it's made with nitrocotton IIRC, instead of nitrocellulose.

Was this some of the rimfire ammo?

The Aguila uses the Eley Priming compound formulation or a close relative to it. That has the funny smell. PMC, I have no idea where that smell comes from. But being now made in the Asian market, I would expect that it is a copy-cat attempt at the Eley prime.

Many of us like the smell, however, I can attest that it is quite surprising the first time you encounter it. I equate it with accuracy, even though the Aguila that is Eley Primed does not really shoot like Eley branded ammo.
This is a quote from one of the gun boards I frequent. The question was "why do Aguila and PMC ammo smell so strange"? or something like that.

Yes. And I'm not a good enough benchrest shooter to even appreciate it, I imagine.

MiniMags work pretty well... :D

I've heard some good things about the Aguila rimfire ammo, though.... but usually it's more costly than MiniMags, so I haven't tried any, yet.

I get emails from target sports quite frequently and they often have it for 5 cents a round with free shipping if it works for your
firearms.

Really? I usually get emails from them... I can't open them at work.... "weapons censors".... I guess I need to open them at home and check it out.

.05 per round is do-able. Guess I should buy a couple of boxes, and see how they work. Surely at least ONE of my .22's will like them.

wish I could hand you a box of each. standard and high velocity.
I'll let you know when I see the next offer.
Federal American Eagle has been offered as well, the great BO, 22 rimfire drought appears to be over.

I bought a couple of bricks of the Federal Am Eagle.. it seems to be very good. I also bought a couple of bricks of the Blazer a while back, and it seems very good as well. Both were around the .05 price point.

I have no problem with getting more. I'm not too sure you can have too much .22 ammo.

Thanks for the link...

the American Eagle has always been a favorite of mine, Back when I was working I stocked up on CCI Standard velocity
for the S&W model 41's, that was what they recommended and say that is what they were designed for.
I recall when Gil Hebard's range fire occurred it was attributed to using high velocity in pistols, the unburned powder had built up
in the gravel ahead of the shooting positions until something caused it to, ignite, we tried an experiment at our club one night,
one position shot standard velocity, one shot high velocity, at the end of the night we swept each position into a dust pan, took the outside and attempted to ignite them, dust from the high velocity position had enough unburned powder to ignite and burn across the whole pile of dust, the standard velocity powder had an occasional spark from unburned powder igniting.

I have found it tough to beat standard velocity, even in rifles , for accuracy as the bullet does not have to pass through the sound barrier
as it slows up downrange.
best wishes

Yes... I'm beginning to like standard velocity stuff better than the HV stuff.

It's also easier on the ears, when out banging around without hearing protection, as well. Who wears muffs when out in the woods?

I suppose you heard about the official warnings about how to stay safe in bear country?

It is recommended that you wear little bells in various places on your body... the noise of the bells will warn the bears of your presence, so they can avoid you.

Also, carry pepper spray with you, should you encounter a bear close up.

Always be aware of your surroundings, taking note of any tracks that could be bear tracks, or any bear scat.
It's very easy to identify bear scat, because it has little bells in it, and smells like peppers.....

yep! Such accounts of people being attacked and killed by animals causes me to wonder. I know it
isn't His will that we go home that way, were the victims not in relationship with Jesus? Were they in relationship
and missed His warnings? Did they receive His warnings and give way to a peer pressure?
I am learning He would have us go when our work is done, as Moses, Elijah, etc. taken up while in health, not dying of "something" whether it be sickness, disease, being devoured, etc.

Moses climbed mount Nebo the day he was taken home, he was a very old man, about 140?

Well... it's only a couple thousand feet above sea level, so it wasn't as if he climbed a "fourteener"...

of course, he WAS 140 yrs old, so I guess it felt like a fourteener to him.

if I recall it also tells us his strength had not declined nor his vision or hearing, haven't looked it up specifically, but that is what
our G-d desires for us.

I have decided that (Lord willing, of course) I am going to the shooting range this weekend.... it's been WAY too long.

I have several that are feeling sorely neglected.
