'Moon River' - Andy Williams
One of the most played piano pieces at home when we were young-). I know the piece is by Johnny mercer, music by Henry Mancini, not knew many vocal artists like williams who sang it, but audrey hepburn only in the movie Breakfast at tiffany's.

This song was written by American composer Frank Carlton in 1908. After being told it had no commercial value he sold the rights to William (Tell) Taylor who published it two years later and made a fortune from it. Curiously, this information has recently been erased from internet websites and the story of Carlton writing the song on the banks of the Blanchard River has now been attributed to Taylor. Not the first attempt to re-write history I've come across.

The first one that jumps into my head is "The Rose" (Bette Midler) because the first line is "some say love, it is a river..." But that doesn't have river in the title :) I've always had a problem separating first lines and titles.
