How many of you here would say you can actually sing decently?
I need to practice!!! I would LOVE to lead in worship someday within the next year, but I can never sing in the right key haha.

It's something I'll have to practice if I want to become a Pastor :p

You don’t want to be a loud singer, do you?

I think it’s disheartening when loud singers drown out good singers. Am I wrong to feel that way?

Well that's why I need to become a good singer! :p I can learn and train my voice. I can sing, but I just need to learn to hold notes and breath properly and get in the right pitch/key.

Loud voices are unpleasant to listen to. When I hear someone singing way louder than everybody else, it seems to me that person is showing off.

Well if you are the leader in worship, then you have to be louder in everyone else ( we don't have a choir small congregation, One person sings, and one person plays the keyboard and they are backup)

Music is meant to be beautiful. People should blend their voices, therefore, I think.

It sounds like you already know quite a bit about music. As for pitch, there is no substitute for practice, is there?

People do seem to be shy about singing, so it’s good having people in the congregation who can lead the others, but the leaders mustn’t sing excessively loud, I don’t think. I think it’s a bad idea to give individuals microphones when the entire congregation is singing a song.
