Well, you see my avatar.
haha

now that you mention it!

when I met my husband he didn't have a beard and I thought he was too serious looking...in conversation it came up I liked guys with those "I forgot to shave beards" and the next time I saw him, he had one...LOL!

he shaved it off just once...we had a really big ole fight and we were both steamed...he shaved off the beard

when I saw that...I shrugged and said...oh good...a new man! he laughed and it was all good

If women prefer men with beards, then I see that as a reason to go back to shaving regularly.

I have a beard only because I loathe the process of shaving.

Indeed indeed indeed!

I like to see how a man look both with and without a beard, though. I would hate to be surprised at what he looks like when he shaves.

I feel kinda sorry for those fellas who can't grow a decent beard.

But ironically, mom doesn't like beards or scruffs.

I haven't shaved my moustache since the day I graduated high school..

My beard comes and goes on a whim... I don't like shaving, so I usually have one. Every now and again, I'll shave it off just to look younger...

I do a goatee only, though... if I grow a full beard, it's so gray/white, it makes me look 10 years older.... and I certainly don't need any help with looking older...

I don't notice much of a difference in reaction from ladies, either way.... they pretty much universally ignore me. My wife usually doesn't notice when I shave the goatee.

I'm not sure my mother would recognize me if I shaved the moustache, though.... My wife and kids have never seen me without one.

I've never done tests or surveys, but judging from the people I know it usually depends on what they are used to. All of my sisters and I prefer clean-shaven to facial hair because my dad, grandparents, uncles, and most old family friends are/were all clean shaven. I used to really dislike facial hair until some of my brothers grew up and have started experimenting with it. Most of them are still clean-shaven, but one has a beard most of the time and I have learned to...tolerate it. I still am not a fan. :D

I've seen the same thing with girls who grew up as military kids. If they are used to their dad being in the military and clean-shaven, they find bearded people less attractive; on the flip-side if they grow up around men with beards, they will tend to like them more.

Just my personal experience and observation :)

Very good observation.

I actually used to agree with mom on her opinions of men's facial hair... but then I changed my mind and am pretty good either way. I came to realize that beards can be really beautiful things on a man; If you want him to look younger and cuter, have him shave. When he gets *ahem* older, and maybe isn't so boyish and cute anymore, all of a sudden a beard just might once again come in handy to go be him a more rugged sort of appeal.

And I've probably thought about this way too much.

Oh...forgive me if I find the last paragraph of your post to be shatteringly funny! Oh...dear :D

Do you know why my brother grew a beard? Age 25, he is a gun smith and someone asked him, "Is it really legal to sell guns when you're under 18?" (!!?) So yeah...I guess he has a serious baby-face going without the facial hair.
